Wade, I'm older than you are and lived in California a lot longer than you. It is with that experience that I must declare you ... a wuss. :P

I suppose I've earned that.

This whole thread has me confused. "Besides TD...." What does that mean?

Bwaa haaa haaa.....Actually, in all seriousness, at the shows I'm able to get away thanks to my right hand folks, I love to peruse the vendor/dealer hall to see what's out there. I had a great time at GHC walking thru and sending Jeff (who was home) pics of things and asking if he liked them. I picked up some cool things for his gaming cave that had he been there, he probably wouldn't have sprung for. It's also fun to see the games that are available and pick some up for gifts for friends/relatives.

I imagining he designed it to look like an actual cave with some extra cave wall from the dungeon. And it has secret gaming hidden areas. Even if this is not close to accurate, I don't want to know. If it is then I think I can safely say we all demand pictures...lol.

I didn't mean to start a whole thing by mentioning ice cream!
At GenCon, the ice cream place we go to is a solid 15-20 minute walk from Lucas Oil, which also makes us feel like we might somehow be walking off the calories we're about to consume. (NB: It's nowhere close. But we *feel* virtuous.)

Chammps Americana is different from the restaurant that was over by the Westin which I believe was a sports bar called Champs

The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown (former exclusive location of TD for several years) used to have a restaurant called Champions . As Spud said, it was a sports-themed restaurant/bar. However, after doing a bit of research just now, that location seems to have been completely remodeled and rebranded into Conner's Kitchen + Bar . It's so different-looking, I thought I had accidentally clicked on the amenities for the JW--the big blue Marriott hotel just a block away. But evidentially this change was part of a $40 million renovation at the IMD two years ago .
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Or better yet, how about, I don't want to have to seek out Ice Cream when it is so far away from TD.

Yeah, let's go with that.

They used to have the best buffalo chicken salad. I was all excited when I have moved over to the mall after the reno pushed them out of their old space. Now its sounding like it may be a new place entirely in the mall.

Are you now confusing Champions with Champps?

Champions was the place inside the Marriott. Champs was a place in the mall. Drake LOVED eating at Champions. I liked it (the first 2-3 times that week), but after having almost all my meals there in a week, I was DONE with it!

Not gonna lie...Drake was super sad to see the renovation take place and his beloved Champions getting axed. I believe there was even discussion about going over for a final meal, but that never materialized before they closed down. Tough to be a kid these days!

And, no comment on the post about Jeff's gaming cave....except to say I will NOT be posting photos :-)
