Actually it was fact checked in real time. Overall, the majority of “facts” cited were outright lies. Even worse, it was misleading in a way that may influence decisons resulting in people dying.

Perhaps Trump firing everyone in leadership at the CDC tied to epidemic/pandemic response in 2018 and not replacing them wasn’t a good move? Keep in mind, he first presented a surgeon general that was an antivaxxer only to have to withdraw the nomination because even the GOP thought it was ridiculous. Adams is poor but, at least, Trump’s first choice didn’t go through.

The US response has been poor so far. We’re more than two months in and nearly andozen States still don’t have widespread testing capabilities. The capabilities we have today nationwide are too limited. Budget cuts for epidemic responses left the cdc understaffed (which cannot be fixed in the time needed) and strategic reserves in poor shape for necessary equipment.

Please use flat earthers next time for a source... far more credible.

This is why I try to avoid political discussions, they get so extreme. I agree several statements he made had to be clarified, like which European Countries will have the travel ban and whether it includes goods and cargo. But saying he intentionally told lies which will result in people dying seems extreme.

I realize COVID-19 has frazzled a lot of peoples' nerves. That's completely understandable. However, that's not an excuse to incite or participate in a flame war. I'm not saying this thread has risen to that level ... yet. Let's all try to keep our cool.

If you have something constructive to say about this issue, by all means say it. Just keep the tone in check.

If you wish to discuss politics, this is not the thread to do so. Take that into the Off-Topic section of this forum.

I would also prefer to keep TD politics free. If I wanted to get riled up about this stuff, there are many other outlets out there that don’t involve people I’m potentially gaming with.

That being said, everyone has the option to not participate in “hot” threads. I’m satisfied with the statements with TDHQ, so there’s no further reason to watch this discussion. If people want to debate it out in one or two topics then I won’t be the one to stop them. The best thing to do is just walk away and ignore the little red “unread posts” text.

Would someone just ban this Arthur guy already? He's just here to stir up trouble and incite panic. And if no one believes that then I'm going to share this true story that happened to me last month...

I was at a local zoo during one of my retirement road trips. I was feeding a gorilla and it started talking to me... in English!! He told me there were many more like him and the time of the Apes is upon us. The Coronavirus was created by them and will mutate 4 more times before becoming the ultimate human killer. When we humans are all but gone the Apes will finally take the planet back and rule it peaceably.

Druegar, thank you for keeping an even keel through all of this. It is very appreciated. I was and still am looking for guidance on how to proceed. I felt I was unfairly belittled almost immediately by Lazlo just for asking questions, and looking for some basic answers, or advice with how to proceed with buying TD tickets in this time of the virus. This is something I have never experienced before..I along with many others. I am just extra cautious because I do have young children, and also have elderly family to consider..both of which that do attend with me at the conventions. ..It would devastate me if the path I chose somehow harmed them in any way. That is the only reasons I have been expressing real concern over this issue. Sometimes it seems difficult to get certain people to stop being indifferent, or insulted, or annoyed, or acting like everything is a joke, and see I am, and was, just asking basic questions about the upcoming shows with regards to the virus situation. Maybe it is all me, and I am not making my self clear. If so I apologize and regret any confusion.

We really want to go..We do! It is just that schools are closing ..sporting events are cancelling..major establishments are taking extreme precautions. I guess I was looking for confirmation that if we do put out money now for tickets that we will get a refund should the show cancel...We are not paupers but we are not super rich either.. so I was just looking for something solid based in truth, and trust to be assured we are safe to put out the money now. Lori Marti even stated she will be doing extra cleaning of the events..and that was nice ..Though she seemed to take my comments on the other thread wrong. I was just putting on my detective cap, and giving my opinion about the misaligned coin images, and shady goings on with sales and such.. I meant in no way to upset Lori Martin..She is most likely just overwhelmed with all of it and that is understandable.

Once again Druegar thank you for being a calm within this storm. We hope this all works out and we all have a great Con.

Hi Arthur,

There is no way to know what the situation will be like in July/August. It's possible that it could be a lot better by then, or a lot worse. I think Lori did make it clear that there would be True Dungeon ticket refunds if a show were cancelled, either through TD or the Convention (whichever is appropriate for each convention).

Given how concerned you are for your families safety, maybe you should consider skipping out on this GENCON for your own peace of mind, if coronavirus isn't resolved by then. Especially since you mention you bring elderly family members with you, since they are most at risk.

As has been mentioned before I think, the decision whether or not to attend GENCON is up to each individual attendee. You should research the issue, analyze the risks, and decide for yourself if the benefit outweighs the risk for you and your family.
