In 2003, there were 108 tokens (according to tokendb.com). 36 of each common, uncommon, rare.
In 2012, there were 187 tokens. 5 of those were transmuted Relics: +3 Mithral Bracers, Draco-Lich Claw Charm, Girdle of Frost Giant Strength, and Ring of Improved Evasion.

Was 2012 officially the first year that relics were available?

I'm pretty sure 2012 is when the relics first became available. Before that they were combo tokens.

All before my time, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Jack Nicholson Nodding. What movie is that from?

Doesn't that clip bear a strange resemblance to MasterEd... he lives in Chicago... the flag of which has 3 stars... hmm...

This is what I'm thinking, too.

Especially since Druegar put "VERY" subtle in caps... makes me think it was more sarcasm than a hint to look deeper.

So, if that's the case, what clue(s) could we have missed.

Did anyone see an Easter Clue this year?
(I asked that in an earlier post, but misspelled Easter as East, lol)

Or does this tie in to the Christmas clue? (Does anyone remember that one? - I've got a copy saved, but don't want to muddy the waters by posting it in this thread if it's not directly related to this meta-puzzle)

Did not see an Easter clue. Have the Christmas clue, but don't see how it could fit in here.

Anyone willing to elaborate on this? I'm new to the forum/community, but I love a good puzzle.

I'm beginning to think the 3 stars bright = The Summer Triangle

Which is composed of the 3 stars Altair, Deneb, and Vega. The first one is Altair, if we're going with Druegar's penchant for alphabetization, but Deneb is the brightest...

Altair is in the 'Eagle' constellation Aquila
Deneb is in the 'Swan' constellation Cygnus
Vega is in the 'Harp' constellation Lyra

just thinking out loud here.

I appreciate that you're looking at the verse, potter. It was kinda the reason I started this thread...
(What? I didn't make this thread just to give Druegar more entertainment??)
I'm hoping to tease clues out of the riddle, rather than looking for more clues elsewhere when we haven't even solved this one :P

Speaking of which... I'm wondering if
"Special Sight" has any relation to "20/20" which might imply that this riddle/recipe will be a 2020 event instead of 2019.
But then, it wouldn't be "special" sight would it? 2020 is just perfect "normal" vision.

But a literal Dark Knight with Special Sight makes me think some kind of NPC ... and Jeff has been known to dress up as an NPC in the past, to wander the storyscape and interact with players without them knowing.

Or it could be related to astronomy since we're already talking about Stars earlier... A dark NIGHT with special sight(s) ... maybe something special will happen in the storyscape on the night of the New Moon (Aug 1, 2019 03:12 UTC ... which is 11:12 PM in Indianapolis.)

Having something happen on Thursday evening sounds awfully early, tho.... Would people need to pull all 6 relic map fragments before that date/time? And what about all the treasure pull afterwards? Would they just be useless?
I really hope that's not the case.

From quite early on, Jeff would put a Clue up on the True Dungeon web page for certain special dates - the most common being Easter (an early morning Easter Egg) and Christmas (a little gift to those players who hopped online that day) ... the clues were always taken down later in the day.

Sometimes these clues gave advice about a cool thing to look for or do in the dungeon. Other times they were part of a Meta-puzzle which spanned several years. Once it was a really complicated series of clues and hints, one leading to another (which included a long-distance phone call to hear a recorded message from the Wizard Bibwick!) and directed people to meet in the Marriot at a certain time to get a little prize (a unique Pin, IIRC)

This year, there was a Christmas clue - but I agree with Fiddy that it doesn't seem related.

I didn't see any clue Easter morning... but I logged in kinda late (Still morning for me, might have been afternoon in Carbondale)... so I was wondering if that might be the "First" clue Druegar is referring to.

Divine is a special type of sight... Too bad the Lenses of Divine Sight only have 2 stars on them.

Maybe a new Lenses of Divine Sight token? Like the previous "Doubles your Healing" one, but this time as a Relic?
.... No. That would just piss off everyone who had their UR nerfed. Nevermind.

What else could be "Special sight"?

UV light?
Lenses of Accuracy?
Laser sights on guns (a Token which puts laser sights on your ranged weapon? Hmmmm)
A spectacle? (the event, not the glasses)

Or is it a play on words, "Special Site" meaning something NOT in the TD storyscape?
..Like, this year True Grind isn't in the TD storyscape, it's upstairs.
Maybe we have to go to the special site (Grind Room) after Grind is done for the night?

But to me "with" special sight makes me think that's unlikely. Otherwise it would be "at" special site.
