Or, we could start doing the GT run and have those degenerate GTers join after.

while I know very little about how to "run" a poker game, I was thinking something like a 25k gp buy in.

Maybe 3k in gold buy in or we will sell you
The gold if you don’t have it.
Maybe with a rebuy.
We might run a cash game earlier
For some people that want more
Action or need something to do
Until the Tournament starts.
I got partners I need to work all
The details out with.
Luckily I also got a few months too.
Again this will be for Charity
So everyone will be a winner.

The buy in all depends on the stakes people want to play for.

Naturally, lower stakes will allow more to play.

I was trying to determine which the players would like more, a cash game or a tournament.

Then I figured we could go both. Start a cash game with maybe a max 5K buy in at whatever time, then start a tournament with a 5K buy in at maybe 9 or 10 pm.

Those who have no interest in the tournament could keep playing the cash game. Then it would likely still be going when people bust out of the tournament.

Depending on number of players, we could do multiple tables for the cash game. We will likely need that for the tournament as well.

Keep in mind not everyone has as much GP lying around as you or Laz.

We agreed on $80 for 5K in GP, so you would be proposing a $400 buy in.

okay, that was showing my ignorance.. :S

I was thinking a table of 5 at 5k each for a total of 25k. maybe have more than 1 table. how many folks were in the poker game?

But that was PAX,
At Origins we will draw at least
25 players, though I can see way more.

I had a funny idea
25 people sitting around a table.
1 deck.
everyone gets 2 cards. then flop 1. then turn the last.
continue this way until you can work your way up to playing the right way. :S

I actually like that idea. Would say a low buy-in the first few rounds since it will be luck and not skill that wins hands.

I'm in for poker at Origins. I vote a hold'em tourney with a 5k gold (or cash equivalent) buy-in. I think table sizes for tournaments tend to be 8-10 per table
