For Assassinate and Palm they can be immune to crit and it still works.

Palm
In general, the death effect will work on any type of monster (including constructs and undead), but some creatures may have a natural immunity to it or magical protection against it. A hand result in this case deals 8 points of damage.

Assassinate
This ability works on creatures nomally immune to Sneak Attacks and/ or critical hits.


So they may not work on the final boss but may work on other monsters.

Wait then you would need the Lenses of Vital Insight though....crap.

I'd also have to be lined up with the "6" nearest the damage dot, since Assassinate only works on a 6.

Conveniently, the Assassin Crossbow has 2 6's... but that still only makes a 1-in-3 chance of assassinating, *if* I can get onto the 20. And yes, I'd need to use Lenses of Vital Insight in a slot... which means giving up armour... or the one item I can use to kick-start our puzzle solving.... or the Dex boost which gives me any hope of hitting on a non-20.

Not worth it, I think.

Also, the Assassin class would mean I give up the Rogue 5th level Flank skill.. and honestly, I think Flank - which increases the odds of 4 or 5 other fighters sliding a 20 - is gonna be a better choice than a single shot at the 20 with a 1-in-3 chance of InstaKill only if successful.


Oh, and unless Kim says differently, I always try to get the 5th level Fighter to go first. They can tell the rest of the party if the table is slow or fast, and they can/should always use their re-slide ability to take another shot at the monster if the first one doesn't hit in a good location.

Yeah that is why I said we should probably save an assassinate run for another time. It was a thought though.

Agreed - good thought. I remember arguing discussing BoQP on a monster that couldn't be critical-ed and the DM didn't want to accept the death blow on a 20 and the hand. Many times they may not know the rules

Lots to catch up on. I dont mind going ranged bard if you can help out with some ranged gear.

Anyone have any thoughts of sundering cesti or weighted nets or do you guys think it wouldnt be worth the item slots.

Weighted nets not worth it. Seylah's Sundering Cestus... maybe.

But I think the bigger question is: Can you put together a high enough AC for your Bard not to be (effectively) auto-hit by the monster?

If so, then you can fight (ranged or melee). If not, then use a Cloak of Blending, and contribute through BardSong, and non-offensive spell support.


I think our healers are going to have their work cut out for them, keeping our DPS fighters alive.

I agree with Raven. Hide and sing. If we get in a ranged fight hide and sing (maybe cast your offensive spells). Speaking of which I do think the drums might be your best bet.

Honestly whats it matter if Im not gonna fight anyway.

Becauae you can sing and cast spells that are not offensive

Would have if it was relevant - the damage from everyone else killed him so it was more a friendly discussion while we waited for the Horn...
