I agree, in principle.
But - this being my first PvP, and there being no real rules clearly laid out - I thought it was a cool idea and I ran with it.

In retrospect, it would have been prudent to restrain my Rogue-ish impulses (and it wasn't even the GP which swayed me, it was the novelty of the approach, and that it would make for good story!) but I know that restraint is not always my strong suite. Must work on that.

We were separate groups summoned into an arena by a powerful wizard and we each saw the opposing team as monsters. So how and when in this event would a bribe have taken place? I have no problem with fun and intrigue, but only if it makes sense in the event.

That was actually explained to me.
Apparently, while I was sneaking around to prepare my Sneak Attack (during that bonus round which both teams were given to prepare, and buff) I was approached tentatively by the other team's Rogue (who was also sneaking). The DM/Coach actually pulled us both aside to describe the encounter, briefly.
The opposing team member held out a handful of Gold, and asked me if I would betray my team. Okay, I suppose I would have seen him as a monster and not as a human, but still... Gold! And the DM didn't say, "you have no clue what he's saying because he sounds like a monster" he just said, "Let me know if you take the deal, and if so, when you announce who you are attacking, it'll be your own team mate instead of the opposing team") so I assumed that the illusion did not prevent communication.

So, essentially, I stayed in hiding until it was time to do the Sneak attack, and then jumped out and backstabbed our own Cleric, instead of the opposing team's Cleric.

I'm not generally a fan of PvP, but I figured it was a "free" event, with no treasure tokens or completion reward, and it would be a bit of fun to spice up a mundane slide-off (plus, I thought the opposing team had a really clever idea, using their prep round in this way!). I was ready to be taken down by my own team for backstabbing them (although the opposing team beat me to it, when I refused to attack a second member of my team, and instead turned on them). I did not think my betrayal would be a make-or-break thing for our team... but looking back on it? Perhaps I am to blame for our failure. You can certainly pin it on me if you choose.

I don't understood why this whole situation wrecked me, or I'd try to explain it. My stomach still ties itself in knots when I think about it. Now, for instance.

What I do understand is that it doesn't have a damn thing to do with which side won.

:O

I did not know this! I thought it was just for Pop (which I can't stand - don't like carbonation) but I would gladly have had half a dozen lemonades if I'd known.

Will keep in mind for future events!

My friend and I had lemonade in ours. :)

Oh i just have thing to say to you rogue...
Curse your

I do blame myself for not making you play barbarian.

The one thing I didn't and still don't get... what was the logic in having 4 players attack the bard?
Seriously after you saw that AoE spells didn't work AND the bard wasn't singing why waste the resources.

Oh well.

I did like the refill mugs!
Talked to Jeff about those. Got the impression its something he wants to do more often if he can.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I had such a great time at Celebration and just wish there was more than one Dungeon run to go on like GHC. We were unable to get True Horde tix which sucked but it did not sour our moods at all, even doing the same run 4 times of different difficulty levels.

My only other "negative" feedback (I use the term negative very lightly) would be to make PvP more accessible to more players like True Grind is. I never played and would have loved to participate. If an event run with PvP was offered I would definitely play a few times. The best part is it can be set up outside of the typical TD area not to take away from the core stuff. It sounds like a fair amount of players had some understandable issues with how it went down BUT I think this is something you have to go in on with a thicker skin knowing it's a less controlled and structured. Just a thought...should I expect tomatoes or Sling Bolts to come my way? FYI - My AC is 31 and I wear a Hat of Escape.

It would be great if Jeff were able to offer multiple adventures, like at True Realm. But, perhaps that's not financially viable. I'm totally OK with just having one Dungeon at True Dungeon Celebrations if that's what Jeff needs to do to make the finances work out. :)

I am too, I am just jonsing for more, it's never enough! At venues like TDC where the location does not allow for more than one dungeon more open PVP or True Grind would be great to fill the void as they require less space. The simple fact that the game is expanding to several Cons a year really fills the void. Once a year was too little. Im' loving the fact that I will make it to 3 events this year.

Oh i know i was mostly wonder what the thought process was that flagged the bard as the big threat.
My guess is they were worried about sound burst but after it didn't work i figured they would target the druid or cleric.
I guess they had a plan and they stuck with it.

If you are right, I am truly glad I went.

I hope.you are wrong. It was a lot of fun, and I hope it made enough sense financially to keep it going. 200 plus people descended on Southern Illinois, and had a great time.

I'm optimistic that there will be some sort of follow-on to True Dungeon Celebration next year in Carbondale (and hopefully an annual event for many years to come). :)
