65k-70k-75k?

I haven't seen it listed anywhere.

I believe last year had 65k visitors.. But who knows how many of those are 4 day badges versus 1 day badges.

There are some interesting stories of GenCon's past in here. I'm pulling up a lawn chair, hoping for more.

Tom and I went to GenCon together for the first time when it was in Milwaukee, and ended up getting stuck with a dorm room for housing - cold showers, and an occasional bus to take you over to the MECCA. We hadn't decided until April to even go, so got the dregs of housing. The next year we got on the list right away and ended up at the Hyatt - what an upgrade! I spent the entire con waiting in line to buy packs of MTG: Legends. Saw a guy walking around trying to sell a beta (or was it alpha?) Black Lotus for $20, which I thought was CRAZY for a piece of paper. And picked up my one and only Mox there - UL sapphire, which is long gone.

As someone who has attended Megacon a ton where I really would go for the shopping experience since the RPG schedule was really short but the space is massive, oddly most years the national cheerleading championships were held many times that same weekend. It was rather odd so many cosplayers and nerds with that going on.

I have heard about megacon,
If you agree GC is a 10 out of 10,
What would you rate MC.

For my interests a 4 out of 10. The RPG list is one page I know some small cons around here that do more DND and Pathfinder in 2 days then that con does is 4. Upside lots of celebs if that is your thing felecia day and brent spinner as examples, the 500 vendors really does it for me. About 1/3 are comic vendors which just isn't my thing but lots of rare games, not as good as gencon though.

Sounds unpleasant.

The one and only time our crew attended GenCon in Milwaukee, we didn't realize housing had sold out months ago, and we ended up getting space at a campground 30-40 min out of town. I couldn't tell ya whether the showers had hot water, because there was always a line-up 10 people deep to use them in the morning, and our crew had to drive to the Con yet, so no time to wait! :P And we'd get back to camp after 10pm, when the shower building was closed.

4 days of this. And poor air conditioning. Over-crowded halls. The stench of gamers who smelled even worse than our sorry camping selves. Garbage cans filled beyond max capacity and spilling their litter on the floor. Stepping outside for a breath of "fresh" air to be assaulted by clouds of cigarette smoke and100-degree heat. Really, really grumpy locals. Gamers who weren't much friendlier.

So I refused to go back to Milwaukee, and didn't hit GenCon again until it moved to Indy.

Not saying Milwaukee wasn't a hot-spot of great memories for some people, but for me the only memories were disappointing ones. I'm just glad my Sig.Other convinced me to give it one more try - the year TD came to GenCon!

For me Milwaukee was convenient (I live there), but I think I missed a lot of the con experience. It didn't make sense to pay for a hotel, so I have more memories of walking to and from the parking structure and really didn't do anything downtown at night. The con seems like a more complete experience for me in Indy than it did in Milwaukee.

Of course I'm also getting older and have memories of Gen Con going back to UW Parkside. Now that was interesting as my friends and I wandered winding hallways with gamers occupying tables everywhere you looked.

Single day badges for Saturday are now sold out as well. The other three days are still available but Gen Con is warning that quantities are limited and are selling rapidly.

Makes me wonder just what the badge limits are. The convention center is going to be crazy. It was already hard to get around the dealer room on Saturday.
