I got 7 full runs in the first couple of minutes.

But between the Gencon and TD sites being down, it took me about 2 hours to get everything sorted out. Was originally planning to drop some of the runs, but ended up keeping them all (but only half the runs are for myself!). Have a bunch of runs I purchased on behalf of DDA and one run for Team Synergy.

FYI: There have been past years when I got absolutely shafted by the registration system, so I just got lucky thisy year!

Pressed by button at noon and said list was being processed. Same message at 1230 then refreshed and already processed. Was able to get the 3 out 4 true dungeon runs and other events from my wish list for gencon

Then we'll have to go fabricate some then...

Overall didn't get what i wanted but got workable. Did better overall by coordinating with several half groups and having 4 of see who got what time/runs in the system.

Also granted I'm still shell shocked from Origins registration that almost anything had to be better.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I put the same ~40 events into both my and my wife's wishlist. Pushed both buttons at the same time. She got about 1900 in queue and I got about 4000 in queue. By the time my wishlist processed I only got two tickets (not for TD) which I ended up dropping in favor of the ones my wife's wishlist obtained.

I was also working with Raven, Myron, and Myron's brother and nobody got anything from what I understand.

In other words, had it not been for the fact that my wife was joining me this year, I would have had a huge failure during event registration.

I was number 4738 when I got my number, and when my wish list of 24 runs hit I got 1 of them, 11:02pm Combat run. I ended up dumping as one of the other people got the run we wanted. I got 0 runs for the DDA this year and ended up sponsoring (paying for the slot) from Eric, who we already have seen hit paydirt! I've never gotten good number on this system for some reason but this year was harder than any other.

I do wish they would go and do what happened with Hotel registration, you get your wishlist done before the time is up and submit it, and at noon on Sunday it comes back with your place in line. So the server isn't hammered by request with the fastest internet... but it just processing a list of people that gets randomized at a certain time and starts processing.

I suspect that switching to a system like what is used for hotels could wind up even worse for groups trying to buy out entire runs. If they do go to a random system, I would hope that either it gives preference to people buying entire runs or only processes your wish list until it gets one item into your cart before moving on to the next list (or both).

But my preference currently is that it just stay as-is. I think no matter how they change the system, there are going to be people that don't get their picks. And if you have people getting things put in a cart without having to actively click the button, I suspect we will see events stay in carts longer (more items expiring out instead of actively being removed).

Maybe next year when it isn't the 50th anniversary of GC, and TD is maybe a bit more established at other cons, the craziness at GC will go down a bit. I'd suggest holding off a year before pressing GC for changes.

No matter what the system is, there are still going to be the same number of people who are left disappointed. Everyone would like a system that improves their personal odds. In the end, we just need a system that give everyone a fair chance. Are there issues that make the current system not fair? I mean I clicked submit within a second of the button popping onto my screen. I still ended up 6133 in queue.

My friend did the same he got about 4200 in the queue. He only got 1 of his wish list items for 3 TD tickets and was unable to get any of his selections for 9 tickets. So now we have 6 friends who are just going to skip TD for the first time in about a decade. I think some will be able to make it to GHC, so there is that. My friend kept retrying and eventually got a second run with 3 TD tickets.

I also ended up with 1 run of 3 tickets, which I returned since it conflicted with a run my friend already got. Fortunately, I was already signed up with a couple of groups on the forum and am getting a few more runs there. Then another friend reached out with an offer for her extra ticket. So in the end I ended up with pretty much everything I wanted, but it was a lot of watching the Gen Con event list for several hours and grabbing things as they became available. I still have a few open slots that I'm hoping to fill. The toughest thing is to have patience. More tickets will pop up over the next couple of months. Although anyone hoping for a full run, or a large number of tickets may have a tough time.

The other thing I'm realizing is that I'm getting really pumped to play TD and am so thankful I'm able to make it to Origins. Hopefully, that will help satisfy this craving until August.

Registration not bad for me this year, had 1900ish at the start. A friend of mine had a crash on submit, but mine ran fine and I got 2 full runs, grind, and a few tickets for other runs. Actually, had 5 full runs at one point, then keep the preferred times and cut the others loose. Seemed slightly better than last year for TD.

That said Starfinder was all gone in like 10 minutes or so, sad I wasn't able to get some SFS games too.

PS If they change the Event Registration system to be more like housing I'll likely quit going to GENCON, prefer the button push crap shoot, to the terrible housing lottery.
