I know the xp system is already shaky in terms of accuracy, and my financial contribution is dwarfed by some of the other people on here, but the day xp add-ons start getting sold there is no legitimacy to this game anymore and I'm out. At that point its just a haunted house and I don't need tokens anymore, people with more money then me can fight over whose willing to throw more after being tops on the list.

That's not "buying XP" that's paying full price to get XP missed at GenCon

#2 I know what the question was, my comment was directed to what my opinion of the game would be if Jeff made that an option. Should non gencon events give XP sure, should you ever be able to buy into xp you missed, IMO nope

I agree if they are the same dungeons or retro dungeons. However if we ever get to the point of 5-6 Cons and more than 2 new events then I think XP should be available to all new events to any and all that are fortunate to play in them.

I respect that there are those that have been playing longer, I think they should respect those that play more new unique events. We are not there, we may never be there, but just my two cents. I would even say that these theoritical new events if not at Gen Con could give less XP, but they should be worth sometime.

If Jeff gets to 5-6 Conventions I would assume that most of the dungeons would be either RETRO or the same dungeons, due to development time. I think that a cap across all events would be better so that he is expanding his player base not just having the same base at multiple conventions.

I'm fairly new to True Dungeon. I ran it once in 2011 at Gen Con, then didn't go to Gen Con again till this year where I ran it again. I really enjoyed myself and jumped at the chance to do more TD at Gameholecon. I'm even bringing a couple of friends that have never done TD before because Ive been telling them how enjoyable it is. One of the aspects that I really like is the ability to advance your character through experience which is something else that I shared with my friends. I did not realize when I signed up for TD at Gameholecon that I could not earn experience from the events there. Only being able to acquire experience from Gen Con was great when TD was only at Gen Con, but its now growing to the point that it makes no sense to not give exp at any other convention. As one of the other posters above said, any system that has a player attend for several years at alt conventions and still be lowest level is really stupid, especially for what it costs to participate. I intend to go back to TD at Gen Con next year, but my inability to currently earn experience from Gameholecon is making me consider getting a refund on the events I purchased. I don't know what the right answer is that would be best for everyone when it comes to earning experience, but the way it is now is just wrong.

I am not going to GHC, but I am a regular at WYC. We have been told that there is no XP for retro dungeons in the past, and I believe it should stay that way at least until next year. At that point, I would like to see XP offered for all events, but a cap where only two runs count toward your total, just like the current system works. This would let people that attend only the smaller cons have the same access to XP as those that only attend Gen Con.

Sargonnax, since you bring up cost:

Tickets at GenCon are at least 40% more expensive than the alt cons. The production values and treasure is the same.

The fact that you don't get player XP there is, IMO, a small trade off for the huge discount. For the casual player, anyway.
