TOPIC: Proxy Tokens and DMs

It does seem to me that the cleanest approach is for True Dungeon to issue a formal Proxy policy, so there is consistency among DM rulings, and so players know what is allowed and what isn't.

We have the magnetic sliders in prototyping as well as the high lipped, lighted board used for the beholder. I'm hoping with these, lost tokens become much less common. That being said, I still might look into that glow in the dark tape Laz uses

The beholder lighting backstops were magnificent and should become standard. Not a single token left the playing surface when slid into the monster area due to the high walled backstop. This might help people's concerns about losing a token.

As someone who had left two keen scimitar in sliders as I left the room, I really like proxies.
NOW this is the Law of the Jungle — as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk the Law runneth forward and back —
For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

I do not mind proxies as long as the player can show the original. We had someone leave the relic staff in a room. Lucky he realized it and ran back in when the other group was there. DM seemed to get upset then realized what happened l... all was good.

Completely agreed on needing to be able to produce a token on command (and not buried in a backpack in a way that takes 5 minutes to find in the dark, but in a little pouch in a secured pocket or something). But even as someone who probably doesn't own a token worth more than $5 or $10 on the secondary market (if that much), I can totally understand how someone might be anxious to fling a token worth hundreds of dollars (or much more, both monetarily and in terms of effort and even sentiment that might be behind acquiring is, such as a hard earned transmute) down the board.

I wasn't able to participate this year, so hearing that improvements are being made that would highly reduce the likelihood of one going missing is heartening, but as a general concept, I can respect the potential anxiety, especially in a dimly lit area as the dungeon can be.

Make the sliders purchasable by players. This way no need for one to remember their tokens in a slider just pick it up and go. I know my group would purchase them!

+1

I know the argument against this is that some people might practice sliding at home and get an unfair advantage.

But seriously? The small percentage that might do this are also the small percentage that probably already do with homemade boards and sliders. I don't see owning your own slider as anything but a good thing for TD. It's the same way with the Party Cards. I was gifted 2 whole sets (no, not the ones on eBay :P ) and laminated them. I also added grommets and Team Yeti lanyards I had made. I even bought TD-type flashlights to attach to them.

In the long run this will save Jeff money because Team Yeti won't require cards or flashlights or those string lanyards. The same can be said with player-paid for sliders. I don't know the stats but I'm sure Jeff has to replace ones that wander off over the course of events.

We all have badge holders, and are supposed to keep it on is at all times.

So slide your weapon in the front of the badge, so that if a DM wants to see it you can just hold it up. "Here."

After the run, put it away.

He'd have to purchase an exponentially greater number of sliders, approximately equal to the number of lights he has. Plus plan for huge theftage.

Not to mention volunteers to transport them back.
