There were two different older men at the checkpoint at different times. One of them was friendly and would smile and was amused by my BatCat shirt. The other one seemed very grumpy at all times. They looked of similar height and hair color and both had glasses of similar style so could be confused if you were just glancing at them. So some variations in behavior may be because there were two different people.

Oh I see! So what you're basically saying is that "All Trolls look the same!"

Well, let me tell you that Scrags, Desert Trolls, and Ice Trolls beg to differ!!!

That was Terry. He was the day shift troll.

D.W. was the evening shift troll. He was the one on Wed evening who wrote on peoples hands in sharpie, and (for some reason) was there for part of Sunday morning. He was also the one who seemed most likely to shake his fist and tell these gamers to get off his lawn.

While their personalities weren't their best selling point, they definitely took their jobs seriously, even to the point of asking me to show my badge when they'd already gotten to know me by name from all my trips past them.

I don't have anything definite about 2017. I strongly suspect that we will be back in LOS -- especially given the fact that Gen Con is renting out the whole stadium for the 50th Gen Con! I imagine the food choices will be greatly expanded in 2017 -- and TD will be closer to lots MORE cool events given all that space.

Hang in there folks. Things will improve as Gen Con expands into LOS.

I see so many people griping about GenCon-this and GenCon-that. It's GenCon!! It's the Mecca Homeland for all us geeks and gamers. Be happy tens of thousands of people flock here once a year. Be joyful we get to play with our fellow gamers from around the world together. Let me repeat that... from around the world.

I think a lot of people forget as well that this was the first year to be moved to LOS... I think each year will get smoother.

I just think people love to complain.

@valetutto Dude... you were the Plinko guy??? You need to shoot your photographer. Your photo doesn't look anything like you! Your photo makes you look more like Cmdr. Data than that Plinko guy.

Coaches already have the ability to get you some "starter" gear, so its not as needed as you might think.

Huh?? They do? I had no idea.

What would be more important is having people turn up 30mins early to their run.

I was the first one to show up for my run. I beat my coach there by at least 10 minutes. When folks would arrive and ask which character I was playing I would say "Fighter". Got a few "darn"s in there but most folks can accept "first come first serve". Very, very few know about the 3rd level (player) benefit. I put a LOT of effort into improving my Fighter build and was dying to try it out. At the end of the run, some glaring problems became obvious to me. Believe me, I am going to do my best to have them fixed before GenCon 2017.

Yes they do.

There were many things to like about the new space.

On the other hand, there are things that could be improved now that we have the experience behind us. Indeed there were some adjustments made during the Con.

Looking forward to next year.
