You do have to create a convention account to be able to play in the first place, yes?

This year someone was kind enough to make threads for each run. This was likely a lot of work, but this could be scripted.

Players should post their preference on the forums and work it out. If they cant come to a conclusion then at least it gives people a chance to find a new run. If all else fails it falls back to a role off at the time of the event.

You can now do away with the 3rd player bonus, it's fair for all parties, and now you've given people a chance to get a new run of they couldn't settle it ahead of time.

People can subscribe to threads so it should notify them when others jump in.

This will drastically speed up dungeon prep and will add to the community and ensure more marketing opertunity for TD. I see this as a huge win.

Gencon is getting all the exposure here, directing folks to the forums solidifys your user base and is just good business sence. This scenario is a perfect use to drive people to the site and the forums bringing them into the community.

So signing up on the forums for classes is a first come first pick then? What if two different threads gets started? Are we requiring someone to be active on the forums so they can continue to be aware of choices of character selections made after they put their initial dibs on a character?

Gencon is already doing this. TD is not getting any advantage from this currently. Most companys would pay tons to get this level of reach to its client base. You don't have to create an account, but then you dont get xp, forum access and preferred class selection. You can also " opt out "of marketing...

You are already here... this would not affect you negatively.

So you are requiring people to not just sign up but also be active. Just so we are clear.
You either discover a star or you don't. You arrogant punk.

How does this sound?

Signup for my game. Pay $80 for a 2 hrs ticket. Signup to get marketing data in order to play.

Would you buy the ticket?

People not familiar with how TD operates would have to make a call like this.

Have to be familiar with an event in order to signup?

It would require people to sign up and do the bare minimum research/communication to understand what they are getting into.

This would help properly set expectations for everyone and increase enjoyment. Again, this is completely optional. You can still play without doing any of this, you just might not get to be that class that sounded kinda cool.

Not at all. People are NOT required to sign up for anything. They ARE rewarded by doing so, they get to sign up for registering XP which we all already do, they get to participate in the community (which everyone here is doing) and they have the opportunity to know in advance what class they are playing... and if they have their heart set on something, this gives them time to change runs. This also gets people to the site so they understand they can actually buy tokens in advance. What good are we doing by not giving people that information up front?!

I would absolutely buy this ticket, this is a MUCH better, more customer friendly process. Showing up the day of and not knowing what class i'm going to use, or having someone come and take it is not customer friendly.

Just because people don't read the safety instructions when they buy their new electronics doesn't mean you shouldn't include the details in the instructions. The people we want in the community WILL read it and they will be better off for it.

*This is also partly in reply to your post referring to the not reading, I get it, but that's a poor argument, we will never fix that, but we can fix quality of life issues for everyone else*

I dont know, if I didnt know what td was I wouldnt be likely to sign up for a 3rd party forum. I might still complain when I got there and someone else got my prefered class because they did. In the moment I would probably feel like it was unfair to start making decisions about the game before it started. That said I'm not new so I'm ok with being on the forms, but I can totally see how it could be viewed as a turn off.
