TOPIC: TD Gives Thanksgiving ACS 8k Benefit Auction - $2386 RAISED! + GT

Hi all!

I may be new around here, but I've been lurking around True Dungeon for awhile thanks to my involvement with other games and publishers at Gen Con and other shows. The community here has been pretty awesome (if we've shared PMs, I'm specifically referring to you, YES, YOU!) and when I saw Casey's auction with the benefits going to the American Cancer Society, I knew that I wanted to chip in somehow. I mean, bids are nice but I wanted to do more!

So, I sent a message and offered to add one of my early adventures as a reward for everyone that bids. I did this because:

• The ACS and Extra Life are my two chosen charities. Big props to both, and I do what I can for those that need them.
• It's still spooky season (nevermind that it's now November 1), and Window to the Past is a horror adventure. Vibes of Alien, The Thing, and some other things. I don't want to spoil it, but it's a pretty chilling story that spotlights the characters.
• This isn't about the money. It's about giving where one can, and where one should.

I hope you're all kicking butt doing whatever you're doing, and that you continue to welcome people like me

Thank you Alan for doing this for us and it's so COOL having you in the community! There is a passion here for helping others that is not often seen in other gaming communities. One thing I love to see is the mutual desire to enjoy our passions in various ways together. Sharing our unique contributions to the larger PRG community we love to share. Having you offer up your talents for us to enjoy is an outstanding contribution, its a great reward, and promotes a stellar cause! It brings us all together much more! Can't wait to check out the module and run it for some friends!

The ACS and Extra Life are dear to many of us as well. Cancer SUCKS! Let's fight it together!

Just something I dug up today to encourage you to join many of the others here that are supporting the American Cancer Society though either bidding on items in this auction or just straight up donating directly.

My mother lost her battle with lung cancer and she was not a smoker. Here is some cool info that made me very appreciative that the ACS exists and how it's a benefit to the fight...

"The outlook is more promising than ever for lung cancer at all stages of disease. In recent years, more people with lung cancer are being diagnosed when the cancer is at an early stage and living longer as a result.

The rate of localized-stage disease diagnosis increased by 4.5% yearly from 2014 to 2018, while there were steep declines in advanced disease diagnoses. The result was an overall increase in 3-year survival rates. In 2004, 21 out of 100 people diagnosed with lung cancer were living 3 years after their diagnosis. By 2018, that number had risen to 31 out of 100 people.

Increased survival is also largely due to improvements in:

Tests to diagnose lung cancer
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS)
Updates to pathologic staging
Drugs that target the most common gene mutations in lung cancer"

The ACS is instrumental is providing funds to researchers and organizations that further these initiatives in the war against cancer.

Hope you all got the chance to get out and vote yesterday. As expected, we won't know all the results for some time yet. In my own congressional district there is a very close race we are watching that could take some weeks if not months to figure out.

Hot diggity dog!! We've now managed to raise over $1000 for the ACS and the main auction is not even over. PLUS, we have some surprises coming our way as the holiday season ramps up. SO, keep an eye out!

And, keep bidding on the main auction. We are under $400 left for it to fund.

Congrats to sweet little Vezzy (The young and adorable budding seeress of the troupe) who cast her vote and won the Charm of the Elements token! All $205 will go directly to the American Cancer Society!!

I wanted to say that we are slowly creeping towards funding of the main auction. As you can, take a look and find that we have plenty of room to push this auction over the funding goal and give back even more!!! Dig deep friends.

And on a side note, we are now just of $350 away from the main benefit auction being funded. It's still going till December 2nd so you have time but bid on what you like as there are still MANY items listed WAY below average current auction levels.

The side auctions in this initiative are going well and the donated items are bringing in quite a bit more. We are in the midst of the Quest for Heroes event so participate in that if you'd like. Many are having a great time with it and some big reveals are coming TODAY!
