I second this comment. The Ring of Riches is enough, in my opinion.
True Dungeon IS teamwork. Tokens offer a better chance of survival for the team. :-)

As a long time player of Magic I have many of the expensive cards that people seek. I could easily put together decks that cost $3,000 or more. My favorite format of magic? Draft. In TD I have many UR's and I love running with team synergy and other powerful parties. My favorite run is sealed pack though. You don't need expensive tokens (or even a lot for that matter) to enjoy TD just as you don't need a lot of card to enjoy Magic.

I understand this. I was going through the garbage at GenCon93, recovering alpha starters. My friend and I opened a Beta box seven months later that had packs with 14 rares and a land. When everything was said and done, I have nine sets of power, but six are in collections. My old "Keeper" deck is my favorite. True Dungeon is new territory. The tokens present a fun, year long scavenger hunt. I wish there were more to find! Maybe in the future?

I agree with the above posts. The problem is that the treasure draw tokens are great sellers, and while I have no first hand information, it is more and more apparent all the time to me that TD has become highly dependent on the token based revenue stream.

Sure, Jeff has said many times that True Dungeon as it exists today wouldn't be possible without the token sales, and in particular the people that spend a LOT on tokens (a group which at times has included me).

What would people say to tokens that don't allow excess treasures (so no more than 16 max), but play with the treasures in other ways?

For example, something like:

Divining Rod of Treasure Detection
Obtain 1 treasure token at the XP desk if you have 0 treasure stamps.

Sure, something like that sounds fun. I'm still open to a token that gives you treasure stamps (even if just up to the regular limit of 3). That though would have to have the restriction that it only came into effect if you actually did the Dungeon, to keep people from just buying tickets and getting the tokens. I'd actually be in favor of that being the general rule, that you couldn't get participation tokens or treasure coins unless you run the Dungeon. I guess you might still be able to wear multiple bands on your run.

I like the idea although I think there are very few who come out of the dungeon with no stamps at all.

How about this idea: A treasure token that you pull from the general treasure box that allows you to pull from a reserved box filled only with more valuable tokens. That could actually enhance the treasure draw experience and not inflate the reward system.

One concern I'd have about that is that they would get the boxes confused and have some people do their regular treasure draws from the reserved box. Every year with the Treasure Map box, there were lots of stories about people being told to incorrectly draw from the wrong box.
