TOPIC: BC's Trade Thread

As a comparison to other tokens, it is close (but not exact) bonus to one of the bonuses of a Cloak of Shadowskin. Cloak of Shadowskin has restriction on damage source, but can potentially block more than 30 damage if something winds up doing more than that in a single hit. Cloak is a more powerful slot than Charm, but the +2 saves more than makes up for that. More limited supply than Cloak of Shadowskin, so overall likely worth more than a Cloak of Shadowskin. How much more? I guess we'll see.

You all are valuing the play value of the Key way higher than I do.

Key doesn't give +2 saves. It takes a charm slot, where there are already plenty of charms I can't slot. Might I run it for variety? Sure. But, if I actually cared what it did mechanically, I might have made more effort to get one. I see Elfstone being more useful as HP have some element of continuous value over one time damage prevention combined with less contested slot (at least this year), and I'm not an Elfstone fan.

OTOH, because it does something not useless and is scarce, I wouldn't be surprised by the 2000-3000 estimate if you time it right. OTOOH, its limited play value may mean it never goes for that much even given high level of scarcity. How much fans care is a shrug to me. Then, play value goes down over time (probably, maybe 30 damage becomes far more common) as more charms get made outside of next year when suddenly people can put two more slots into builds if they are at the legendary level.

Anyone who wanted one was able to get one during the donation period. Anyone who wants one now is trying to buy one of the extremely low supply of a token no longer obtainable.

Are you saying that because the token was mainly available via a $1000 donation it should not be valued based on it's general supply?

I honestly dont see the ethical problem of selling something you were given by world builders. They were happy to offer the keys, got the money they were asking for to give to heffer, and sent the keys out. Everyone was happy with that at the time. Heck, I'd wager they got more donations with the insensitive then they would have without.

So really why is what someone does with the key or the value they place on it after the fact an issue? (That's an honest question, not trying to be facetious.)

I mean for all we know Jedi will turn around and re-donate the money. Would that make selling it ok if he did? And if it did, would the next owner or the one after that also have an ethical responsibility on how to handle the key?


Final point of reference, personally I dont value as highly as some have on here. I'd say somewhere in the 400ish range would be my limit, but I could see the right collector in a few years offering quite a bit for one.

To further Picc's point no one currently knows how I acquired the Key I am selling. I could have bought from someone else or traded for it. It could
be the one I won from the grand prize or it could be one I got from donating. So does the source matter?
There are lots of speculated numbers being thrown out but I don't think anyone has made an offer behind those numbers. I believe there is only one actual offer in this thread. I have had 3 people ask what I want for it and had to tell them I don't know because obviously I would like to get close to it value for it. To that end I think I am going to either have to do an auction or reverse auction. Details to come once I figure it out.

No judgement mate, I posted at the same time as you, and called out my personal ethics and an offer. I just thought it was hilarious that you helped make a spectacular point without knowing what I was writing.

If Jedi found it on the sidewalk, and not because someone like him was lucky enough to win a grand prize from an auction, I would tell him the same thing. This particular thing doesn’t seem like one someone should profit off. You disagree, and that’s an ethical opinion. I didn’t say it was good or bad, just that ethics are a personal thing.

I suspect most people are in the “if I can make a buck that’s fine” and I even offered something personal for the token. I did not offer what it is worth though. I called it priceless, that is out of my price range, a donation to an organization of choice and a little something personal is though.

I doubt Jedi will take my offer, it will likely be the lowest offer. He could for example take a 2-3k from a “sale” and donate that and make a much larger impact! I hope someone is that generous, with a few iterations of “sales” like that these tokens could make tons more help for organizations to do good.

Yeah. I'm totally fine with making some money off the token. It was potentially "purchased" via a donation to a charity, that money went to the charity, and that's good. But what happens with the token after purchasing I don't see as something that should matter how it was acquired. From this point I'd consider it a rare token and let the price fluxuate as the interested parties are willing to fluxuate it.
