I don't know what will happen with the recipes but can you elaborate on what happened in the 2015/16 year?

I believe he was refering to Icecrag Hero Earcuff. There was a scramble for the 2013 bits that made up the transmute. I traded two sets of 2015 bits for one of 2013 and was very pleased with the deal. Others paid far more.

That was because of Wertz, of course. Not many drew from the boxes with bits, so there was an artificial spike in 2013s. The highest I remember was $25 each.

I finally cracked and sold my 2013 bits for $50 each, though I dont think that price was at all typical or offered long.

I think that one in particular that some folks were short were going closer to 50.

For those that what the Monster Bits conversation here is the thread.

I have not yet re-read it so I don't know who said what, including myself. I should be a fun re-read though.

WHAT THE F#(< IS UP WITH ALL THE GOLDEN FLEECE?!? Needing ONE golden fleece for the eldritch is unexpected, but i can accept if that is the new normal, BUT TWO?!? And then two per relic...did i just not notice this change because i didnt make relics recently? That plus 3 more for the legendary is a LOT! Im glad noone bought my extra monster bits from this year, and i will still be short if the kilt stays at 2.

I do agree I think this is a bit of an over correction, I think 1 for the eldritch and 2 for the legendary is sufficient.

Silk and Fleece requirements seem high across the board.

Would anyone care to explain to a newb what the Wertz box is and how it differed from the conventional box?

I was guessing that but he said 2015/2016. So the 2013 was rare due to the Wertz box. I know I paid well over $100 for the 2013 bits - I clearly don't believe they will be in that range.

AFAIK, the value of the pulls themselves has never dropped. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, I do both (sell my treasure pulls and express concern about the health of the secondary economy vis a vis monster but supply).

The value of the pulls has dropped, as measured by eBay sales price in the period after the bonus tokens get sent out but before Gen Conn.

In 2017 they were going for $6+ and sometimes as high as $10 each. In 2018 they went for $4-5 per pull before Gen Con.

I myself have stopped caring about treasure pulls very much, I gave away probably 2/3rds of my pulls to new players in the storyscape or check in area this year.

But I'm not worried about the value of treasure pulls because I care about the money, I'm worried about it because I think it's bad for players in general.

Let’s just take the Bead

So forcing players to play 50% more times to finish the Bead they’ve been saving up for for three years is good for the players?

Sacrificing the players to protect the profits of farmers is obscene.

I’m just not sure you’re looking at this from all perspectives

I don't understand your comment. Isn't the bead recipe what we were all expecting, with the exception of 2 additional monster bits due to there being 6 total instead of 4?

I was expecting to spend 12 monster bits to make the bead. It looks like it will be 14 instead.

Where is 50% coming from?

If I played two games a year for the last three years to save up bits, I have to play three this year. +50%

I also fundamentally don't understand your comments about "sacrificing players to protect the profits of farmers." Could you elucidate some?

Also, in case you think I'm a farmer, I very much doubt I am, but perhaps you could define that term and I'll let you know if I meet the criteria.

People (like me) who use our treasure chips I’m calling “players.” We don’t give a good gawd damn what TCs sell for. You’re talking about protecting the people who sell their treasure chips, but this approach hurts the people who just want to make stuff with their loot. Forget the labels, I don’t care what you call them or yourself.

You’ve had a token store longer than me.

Do you never sell anything you pull in that store?

I find your attitude perplexing.

In 2013 special conditions unlikely to be repeated the main treasure box had a significantly above average number of relics. There was also a second box with more monster bits but the usual level of goodies, needless to say once word got out almost all the draws came from the box with less bits. 2013 was also the first year of a story arc so the bits were needed to make the storyline relic a few years later.

What are we supposed to do with all of these completion tokens? There are way too many now and nothing in the recipe requires them. Was that a purposeful oversight?

It would be nice to have them count towards gp for transmutes. ;)

They usually dont, though I wouldn't mind saving them up for a few years going forward.

if you look at the top of the completion token, it says what it can be counted towards

Last tear was the first year of relics requiring fleece. Going to a 2nd fleece in one year does seem excessive.

Last year was the first year of legendaries requiring 2 fleece. Going to 3 one year later does seem to be a bit too much.

Maybe next year we go up?
