I know LoDS has a WIS requirement, but I don’t like that for URs. Someone cracking it in their freebie pack only has a 25% chance, at best, that someone in the party has pulled the rare you need to use it. Seems cruel somehow.

In principle I agree, however I think most people would be ok with it once you told them what the token was worth.

Or if we got permission from the PTB we could also just give them a pass o the requirements if the token was cracked right there.

You might be surprised. Several years ago I saw someone pull a +2 longsword in treasure. They immediately began complaining:

"What is this? I can't use this! I'm a Wizard? Why is this a longsword!!"

I told them it was being listed on the show floor at GamingETC for $200.

"I can't use this! I'm a Wizard!"

Couldn't have cared less.

Wanted something he could use.

We've totally hijacked this thread into a Polymorph discussion, but I thought it prudent to point out that wizards did not have access to the original Coronet.

I like the idea of Eye or Back slot.

Not so much Shirt or Mainhand.

We just got Shirt of the Fae and Shirt of Focus in back-to-back years, both of which are excellent for Poly-Druid builds. Would be a bummer to print something that takes the same slot so soon that would take the same slot.

As far as armor, I could understand why it might get printed there, but I love my Dragonscale set, so I'd probably stick to potions personally. Same reason the Coronet was cut off from me, actually.

I imagine the actual image looking more like the paws of a bear formed around gloved fists.

Since there is only one instance of Spell Surge, are you proposing that the claw only allow for one instance of polymorph?

The confusing thing to me is: are these gloves, or a weapon or a reusable polymorph kinda-potion? And I don’t understand how this works with Monks, who slide two picks. Do they use two?

I guess if were modeling it similar to bracers monks might need a second for sliding while druids would only need one for equipping, which granted would be a new model since no other class has ever shared monk bracers style weapons (I don't count viper strike fangs since those are true weapons).

Sorry for the confusion, but these would be a UR weapon. I thought I had previously stated that but I might not have.

The dmg would simply be doubled if both slides were a 'hit'. If only the empty puck was a 'hit' you still do dmg based off of the closest number on the dmg wheel to the board's dot.

And just like with the Coronet there are a limited number of uses per game. Albeit, there are a number of ways to get your spell surge back. Off the top of my head I can think of the cleric restoring it and the Crown Expertise.

Please, no more polymorph items that require sacrificing spells, spell surge, or anything like that. That's one of the reasons there was so little interest in the coronet.

Please DO require sacrificing spells, preferably the 1st level spells, so you can use both the coronet and the new item.

To mike; you have to remember, if there is no sacrifice, it will be a very weak polymorph.

Only if it's designed that way. There are plenty of very powerful tokens that don't require the sacrifice of spells, there's no reason this can't be one of them. I think sacrificing spells was a very poor design choice to begin with for the Coronet, I hope that isn't used as a binding precedent going forward.

How would you feel about something like a wis requirement, could be a good sideways justification to reprint charm of enlightenment

I think a WIS requirement would be perfect.

And make it an eye slot item so druids arent double dipping with the WIS charm.

Note: i do own the lenses of divine sight, and will absolutely be getting a new permanent polymorph item(unless it sucks) even if it conflicts.

Oh, it just occurred to me that wizards should also be able to use the new polymorph item...is it appropriate to put a WIS requirement on it?

As long as they can use the charm of enlightenment to make the requirement too I dont see why not. Or we could let it be a druid only thing since polymorphi was originally their bag.

My opinion: any UR with a stat requirement ought to be able to have the requirement met using tolens from the same year. Relic / Legendary you may need to work harder at.
