I would caution against this. Not just the set bonus, but putting the other saves in the charm slot. The synergy with the save bonuses on the Charming Set pieces is probably a bit too good.

Beyond those using mostly reds, would people be willing to sacrifice 3 charm slots, a ring, an earcuff, and an ioun stone slot?


Depending on the class? Maybe. In Grind? More likely. Toss these on the Bard along with a Cloak of Blending.

So +4 to a save would cause people to replace their charm of avarice / charm of heroism / charm of brooching (which can grant +6 saves).

I guess I was underestimating the value of saves.

I doubt it would replace those you mentioned, and they might not see play at the EPIC level, but I'm saying we have a tough enough time balancing the hardcore and NM levels now, and the difference between those on NM with a charming set , charm slot expander, and these and those who dont have them could be as much at +6 (from charming set) up to +10, per save.
It's tough to design a module in terms of difficulty with that wide of a gap.

Also. I dont think we cant print them, but I do think we need to be cautious and consider them.

If the charming set didn't grant 5th level, this would not be an issue to my mind.

We were (rightly imo) concerned about the charming set when it was printed and limited it to max +6.

When we design, we have to think about extreme cases, that's all.

I'd absolutely love a pair too, which makes me think they vastly outshine anything else in the shin slot at the moment

Cloak of blending recharges each room - this doesn’t.

Also, a good chunk of the monsters we face are evil, so it does nothing there.

Ring slot vs back, which means it may see more play
Non-evil means more role play elements, plus it could serve as a "free" detect evil in certain cases.

Compare to cloak of elvenkind.

Aah, I did for whatever reason thought it was evil, not vice versa so is less useful. Tracking through the dungeon is basically honor system, but I guess so are figurines and other things.
