If people are concerned about runs being purchased & "farmed" for the treasure, I think this would only exacerbate the situation.

My thought was, what if we added a fifth dungeon? Presumably that would allow for a 25% increase in players, so we should increase the number of trophies in the wild by 25%.

But, if we created a mega-HoP that doubled all your treasure pulls with the same number of people, then doubling the number of trophies given out wouldn't be a good thing. People are already concerned about what will happen just by guaranteeing three stamps...

Anyway, just a thought. If the goal is to keep from flooding the market with trophies, it seemed simpler than juggling percentages.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting trophies become completion tokens. I was suggesting a way to calculate how many to toss in the cement mixer with everything else.

I didn't say it was flooded. I said people (other than me) are expressing concerns it could be.

I don't know that they are concerned it is flooded as much as we don't want to put too many trophies in the hands of new people because in general they are disappointed by them. So it is a balancing act. May sure there is the right numbers for the wide variety of players at appropriate levels to keep most everyone happy most of the time.

In case we haven't said it lately. I think Jeff and Co. do a pretty damn fine job at this balancing act.

Not saying that is a bad thing or a good thing just making sure I understand what we are doing here. Please carry on because it is entertaining as I have no skin in this one at all.

Yes, I do.
1. I consider Laz a friend. I don't like seeing my friends get screwed.
2. If it happens to artifacts, what is stopping it from happening to the Ro7P or Ring of Wishes?
3. I also think that this rule chips another piece of the game.

Maybe Jeff can let people that don't want the bit throw it back in and draw again? The I don't believe setting the treasure at 3+TEs is that bad. If the average person was getting 1-2 stamps, this will put 8-16k more chips into circulation. I would wager the average is probably around 2 stamps, so that would mean closer to 8k. If jeff goes with the proposed formula, it would mean 1600 more monster bits, or 160 more Fleeces. How big of an impact will that have on the current values of those tokens?

A lot of those tokens will never impact the market, lots of people probably take them home and toss them or forget about them.

The other alternative would be to make more use of trophies in recipes. I'm guessing the Fallen Star Mushroom drained a fair number..
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

No thanks. I wouldn't want to see this every year. I am not in favor of anything that would drive the rarity or price of Monster Trophy tokens up. I don't want to see new players get priced out of the transmutation program by not being able to make Golden Fleece trade tokens - transmutations are already expensive enough as is.

Having said all that, I am in favor of, and like very much, the 3 major changes cited at the very beginning of this thread.
