Where would this 5th dungeon be placed?
Hall A is not a viable answer.

I'm dreaming, obviously. We could get Hall D, or take over a local hotel ballroom, or put up a circus tent where the food trucks live, or...

Just trying to come up with an algorithm that simplifies the loot calculations should that be necessary in the future.

And whence will volunteers come for this fifth dungeon?

I'm very much in favor of this option. :)

Agreed! :)

No thanks. I wouldn't want to see this every year. I am not in favor of anything that would drive the rarity or price of Monster Trophy tokens up. I don't want to see new players get priced out of the transmutation program by not being able to make Golden Fleece trade tokens - transmutations are already expensive enough as is.

Having said all that, I am in favor of, and like very much, the 3 major changes cited at the very beginning of this thread.

I don't want to drive up price or rarity. I was responding to concerns that more guaranteed treasure plus a higher percentage of monster trophies would actually drive down rarity and price.

If you build it, they will come. ;)

I think we just take over Lucas Oil Stadium, it's probably big enough. :)

We need volunteers to build it too, so....

If we announce it they will come (and bring Shoeless Joe with them ;) )

If people are concerned about runs being purchased & "farmed" for the treasure, I think this would only exacerbate the situation.

My thought was, what if we added a fifth dungeon? Presumably that would allow for a 25% increase in players, so we should increase the number of trophies in the wild by 25%.

But, if we created a mega-HoP that doubled all your treasure pulls with the same number of people, then doubling the number of trophies given out wouldn't be a good thing. People are already concerned about what will happen just by guaranteeing three stamps...

Anyway, just a thought. If the goal is to keep from flooding the market with trophies, it seemed simpler than juggling percentages.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting trophies become completion tokens. I was suggesting a way to calculate how many to toss in the cement mixer with everything else.

I think 4 dungeons is plenty enough for 1 con. But we basically have 2 dungeons -- each with 2 variations. I know it would take more effort and planning, but 4 unique dungeons would be a whole lot of fun. There could still be 2 combat oriented and 2 puzzle oriented.

If we could find the space and volunteers, it would be neat to have the Dungeons we have now and add a retro dungeon each year.

Yeah. TD has enough trouble getting enough volunteers now for its four dungeons (and I would argue that it still suffers significant issues with volunteer quality).

Staffing a fifth dungeon would make things even harder!

Mike Steele wrote: I think we just take over Lucas Oil Stadium, it's probably big enough. :)

Lucas Oil Stadium is a poor venue for TD in my opinion.

The location is inconvenient, for volunteers and players. Tokens are heavy and needing to lug them to Lucas Oil Stadium is a pain. Unless maybe if TD decides to relocate all the volunteers to the Crowne Plaza or Holiday Inn Express.

Secondly, Lucas Oil Stadium means a significant loss of visibility. It is out of the way so less new people are likely to get exposed to TD.

The whole fifth-dungeon thing is a pipe-dream, and really far from the point I was trying to make. But, I'd be happy to see one, because that would mean our community of players and volunteers was growing.

I expect Jeff finds a way to expand further before long, the demand is there.

I like seeing monster bits used in low to mid level transmutes.

I'd be happy to see each bit be required in a yearly transmute of some sort. It adds a balance of "how many X do I need if it costs me more bits"
