TOPIC: Suggestion for volunteer training in 2016

Re: Suggestion for volunteer training in 2016 8 years 8 months ago #13

Well i had a lengthy response that got cut off because the site timed out, but my real quick idea, what about building a virtual training program that can be used year round and ties into Token DB? Given a random set of tokens for a class or classes, fill out the party card and then check whether or not it's correct with some sort of error checking? Tie this into a leader board system tracking accuracy and speed and I think we could have a lot of fun with it.I'm brewing up ideas on the combat board as well for combat DM's.

Definitely a great idea, though it would require a lot of technology/setup. Although there are probably existing test sites that could be used for this.
My online token shop: www.tdtavern.com

We buy, sell, and trade True Dungeon tokens. We also have a convenient consignment program where you can sell your own tokens.

IF I was to build a system for tokens to be autochecked for players entering I would put a QR code on a token. Scan QR code, instant filling of boxes with stats, move on to the next player.

It can be very low tech also instead. Similar to a trade token exchange you turn in all 3 pieces of a set in (Templar) you get a single token that you put on your armor slot that combines their effect into one. The token in question will list the effect (Templar regen per room) how much AC you get (Helmet 3, Armor 9, shield 4, Total +16/+12 without shield) and could be done for every set item in the game.

There might even be people on this forum who work for professional testing companies .. *whistle*.

Not that I would recommend it, as we charge per test.

Although you could write something like this fairly quickly I would think, you wouldn't need random animation .. just place pucks randomly on an image (or several different images) with random 'alignments' for numbers and start there. Just basic 'unmodified' spot checks first (with a timer) and once a DM gets fast enough, start adding in modifiers from the party card.

Roumour has it, there might be different ways to volunteer than sitting at a booth ... :P
I used to be an industry professional responsible for making sure Japan was able to buy some of the best toy soldiers ever made.

Now I'm just an old gamer :)
