TOPIC: Thank you all for the support!

Re: Thank you all for the support! 8 years 11 months ago #37

This is the first year our group was able to purchase full runs of both dungeons.

I am happy, even if we will be doing them out of order.

I have the feeling from looking at the forum posts. That we had more people buying full runs this year. This is just speculation. So I don't know if we had more people buying tickets, or just people buying more tickets (I am thinking the latter).

I bought 4 full runs but that is the same number I bought last year and the year before so my ticket purchases did not go up.

It was the first time I tried to buy full runs. I put in 16 runs on my wish list trying to get two.

I got one.

Not sure how many are typically sold with 10 tickets to one person, but I am sure that number could be found and say 1/2 of that number could be handled in such a fashion.

I could be misremembering, but I thought I recall an anecdote where GenCon was opposed to this (packaging all 10 tickets into one set).

GC won't let Jeff pre-sell tickets.

They might be OK with letting a % of runs be "single" $520 events similar to how the D&D All Access Pass is technically 4 events wrapped together.

Gen Con has forced the issue into being single ticket sales. There are multiple reasons but they are all on the Gen Con side. Part due to the system to buy the tickets and how they track them and the other part of just GC saying NO!

Couldn't TD just sell a limited number of "Super-VIP Adventures" for $520 per ticket? It's just one, very expensive ticket. "You and up to nine of your friends are invited to..." One per hour per dungeon. (I'd suggest the top-of-the-hour ones for simplicity.)

And the cool thing is, we could all play nice on the forum and decide who has dibs on which to avoid some of the annual angsty drama. That wouldn't stop people from trying to score 10 tickets in a run during the off-times, but at least you'd know that a certain number of runs are guaranteed. Would probably be fewer people buying a dozen tickets and throwing ten back and all the frustration that entails.

I put 40 runs in my wish list. I got 5. I bought 2.

I had some major constraints that limited my window for runs. A full time volunteer schedule and being a GM for another event Saturday night. Holding time open on Friday for Team Synergy. I'd have put more on my list otherwise.

Based on what I am seeing on the Forums 1 per hour wouldn't be enough (I think). And if you make too many of them and they don't sell through then you have a $520 paper weight.

I was 542 or 562 in line. I had 12 runs waitlisted for each day of a particular type of run (Thursday was Puzzle Into Underdark, Friday Sable Combat and so on). I had 2 grind for 2 tickets last on my waitlist.

When my turn came up, I ended up with 1 Thurday, 2 Friday, 3 Saturday and 2 Sunday. I initially got everything I wanted because I didn't care too much about times. I did make the bonehead move of dropping my 1 Thursday and then had to scramble to find any replacement.

. That's one per hour per dungeon (four total).
And if they don't sell in a week, convert them to normal 10-ticket runs.

Well, just a thought.

If that is possible, that would work. I don't know if that is possible with tickets (haven't a clue how the whole ticketing system works). I am seeing events today that were not there last week (for another event). I am also not seeing tickets for an event I know that should have tickets (so I am guessing they have not listed it yet).

Why stop there?

Create a $1040 back to back package sending you directly from part 1 to part 2.

When I volunteer, I just put all runs that fit my schedule into my wish list. I set preferences on the runs so that the system will try to find a full run on Thursday for one dungeon, full run on Friday for the other dungeon, etc before it looks at the other dungeon. However, I'm only looking for 2 runs - one puzzle run of each dungeon. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to try to get full runs of all 4 dungeons that fit into a volunteer schedule. Yuck.

This year, since I'm not volunteering, I'm only coming in on Saturday. So this year, I just put all the morning runs of one dungeon in my wish list and all the afternoon runs of the other dungeon in my wish list. I then interleaved them in my preferences. What's interesting is that I got my top two preferences. Yay! Easy year for me and it has been for several years now.

I got into four runs and a grind, though it took some finagling and lots of time refreshing my wish list. So I can't complain.

Yes, I am certifiable. Or will be by the end of another sleep deprived GenCon.
