I am happy to accept DEX bonuses to my sliding spells!

And it doesn't bother me that bardsong doesn't affect spell damage. Story-wise, bardsong is to inspire the fighters to fight harder - that would affect the arcane energies summoned or created by a wizard or the healing spells of a cleric.

Forgive me, but my brain is currently busy trying to figure out how to teach the Reformation to 7th graders - bardsong TO HIT bonuses don't apply to sliding spells, do they?

It should apply to slide hit spells and I believe it actually does. I don't have the DMG available to search currently.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

Straight from the DMG though the formatting didn't copy

which combat modifiers:
Stat Melee Launchers* Spells** Thrown
To Hit Damage To Hit Damage To Hit Damage To Hit Damage
STR Yes Yes No No† No No No Yes‡
DEX No No Yes No Yes No Yes No

The Dex Yeses are for Launchers, Spells and Thrown to Hit.
You either discover a star or you don't. You arrogant punk.

I know your school blocks a lot of web sites, but if you can access the TD forums, can you not also access http://truedungeon.com/resources/item/26-2010dmg ?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Bardsong affects the TO HIT of the spell slide.
Bardsong does not affect any other piece of any spell.

Given that Bardsong is causing metal objects to deal more damage is it really a stretch to consider it boosting magical auras?

Or if you want to go the way of inspiration does it make sense that a song can boost the emotions of a warrior and allow him to hit harder with a weapon but that same song can not boost the emotions of a spellcaster and allow him to harness more power in his spellcasting?

In this case it wasn't a question of access, it was a question of time.

You could also argue the Bard singing could distract the Wizard from his spell casting.

No more so than the person in hand to hand combat frantically swinging a sword. :P

I can swing my sword to the music fairly easy. Trying to recite the audible component of a spell with a jaunty tune in your ear may throw you off. Maybe we just need a new type of instrument that can help with spell bonuses?

I have a few problems with that thought.

1- Widseth's Lute - Do we really want to tell Bard's *again* that they can either attack or buff the party?

2- UR token that only affects spellcasting - Does it take a slot? Is it useful for any class other than Wizard? Should Bards be required to have it? Do we REALLY need ANOTHER required UR token for this effect to be put into play?

Seems like with the character redesign you could EASILY say that Bardsong affects + to hit and + damage without specifying WEAPON damage.

Can you elaborate more on some of the creative uses for tokens that you secretly came up with, but no one stumbled across?

For WYC:......

.......So hopefully that gives you an idea of some of the token effects that were available in the most recent Grind.

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate. It was very interesting.
