TOPIC: WYC Sat (Grind@9AM, Run@8PM): FULL

Re: WYC 2015 (Party is full) 9 years 1 month ago #61

Question for the very experienced folks.....it sounds like the WYC TD adventure will be full of "challenges from the past". I was thinking that it was very helpful to have a mirror with you when encountering the Medusa in the 2014 Viper's Pit challenge. Any thoughts on items that might be helpful to carry with you to meet these "challenges from the past"?

Also, I've never been in "TrueGrind". What is the format of this event?

True Grind is all combat, no true puzzles. The monsters are much more likely to have special abilities, though. One hour of slaying monsters is quite the challenge :)

As far as older dungeons go, I would pack extra melee weapons in case of Rust Monsters, Universal Solvent to get out of sticky situations, and as many different Gear tokens as possible.

There was a mad scramble to pull out Universal Solvent tokens last year. I'll have some ready this year, but given how plentiful they are likely to be currently, I'm not anticipating them to be relevant.

Or maybe Eric is thinking that everyone is thinking that so he is thinking about having something sticky because he thinks we think he won't think that.

My brain hurts....

This is only my 4th year of TD so I'm likely not going to have any direct experience... but I'm bringing all of the gear I have and various cures, etc. And definitely a mirror ;)

The big thing that I'm doing that I didn't do before, as already mentioned, is extra weapons. I haven't experienced any rust monsters, but last year the cold weather in TrueGrind was enough of an issue... so on to your next question.

In my one experience it was 1 hour (or 1.5 now?) of nothing but awesome combat, simultaneously on three combat boards. There was lots of fighting, lots of healing, etc. We played on Hardcore and had a total party kill, but I think I was the only one who was more than red+purple. So I think we will do OK on Hardcore at WYC, but I'm bringing all the tokens I can to help out (including some Mystic Mushrooms!). And of course a lot of extra weapons.

Expect deaths. Maybe not a TPK, but multiple deaths are likely.

Both our healers have lenses of divine sight and other healing boosters, so I'd expect us to get to the boss with all party members alive.

Whether they finish that way is another story.;)

Just bring Darkwood items for use against the rust monsters.
