A couple of more hits from yesteryear (with apologies to Julie Andrews)

The walls are alive
With the sounds of creatures.

They creep down the halls
In search of prey.

Our city has sent
Us here to slay them.

There is no fear
In our hearts today.

Our warrior's swords
They are so deadly.

And our rogue
Is so sly.

From our wizard's fingers
Lethal fire will lighten the sky.

And if by chance
The creature strikes us,
A deadly blow
That would threaten life.

Our cleric stands,
Prepared to heal us
From the wounds of our strife.

And on a lighter note

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it is
Something quite atrocious,
It's the magic word to use
If monsters get precocious.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle, un diddle ay!

Because I was afraid to sing
When a creature roared,
The party met with great harm,
And I was not adored,
But then I learned a magic word
That saved the party dear
A powerful word, a magic word
That monsters always fear.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it is
Something quite atrocious,
It's the magic word to use
If monsters get precocious.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle, un diddle ay!

I travelled all around the world
Singing for a meal,
Until I found a word to use
That gave me star appeal.
When kings and queens and royal courts
Invite me to their halls,
I simply say my magic world
And fortune to me falls.

Oooohhhhh
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it is
Something quite atrocious,
It's the magic word to use
If monsters get precocious.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um diddle diddle diddle, un diddle ay!

Of course if it is a particularly tough creature you can always say it backwards

Stay tuned more golden and platinum hits will be forthcoming.

I feel very lucky to have been on as many runs together as we have. Your closing song when we've emerged victorious, "Hang Down your head, Jeff Martin" will always be amongst the many cherished memories of True Dungeon.

You inspired me to try my hand at alternative lyrics last year to a great reception. I will be a better bard for your example.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and may you enjoy your retirement to the fullest.

Your lyrics to the Frozen song were absolutely fantastic.

I would often start a dungeon adventure in the training room with apologies to Man of la Mancha.

Hear me now, oh though bleak and unbearable world,
Thou art base and debauched as can be:
And our party with banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down our gauntlets to the!

We are team, Team Token
The lords of the dungeon.
Destroyers of evil are we.
We will march to the sounds
of the trumpets of glory
Forever to conquer or die.

Hear me, heathens and wizards and serpents of sin,
All your dastardly doings are past.
For a holy endeavor is now to begin,
And virtue shall triumph at last!

We are team, Team Token
The lords of the dungeon.
Our destiny calls and we go.
And the wild winds of fortune
Will carry us onward
Oh wither so ever they blow.

Wither so ever they blow
Onward to glory we go.

I always loved starting an adventure that way. Followed by one of my favorites.

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale,
A tale of a dungeon dark,
That started in Greyhawk’s fair town.
They thought it was a lark.

A monster filled realm with fear,
The people fled their land.
They begged the king to send someone
To lend a helping hand.

He looked for warriors strong and brave
To hunt the dragon down,
And when he found us he was sure
We could save the little town; we could save the little town.

But things got rough when we passed the door of the cave of no return
With the Paladin,
The Ranger tough,
The Druid and the Wiz,
The Barbarian
With the rogue and the cleric true
In the cave of doom.

So this is the tale of the fearsome fight,
Fought beneath the ground,
Where swords and arrows split the air
With magic all around.

The creature raised his ugly head
And spewed his fire fierce
Our valiant band withstood the blast
And tried his hide to pierce,
We tried his hide to pierce.

Now you may wonder who prevailed
In the deadly battle long,
But I'll remind you of a simple fact.
I'm the bard and I'm singing the song.
I'm the bard and I'm singing the song.

I always loved that song. Hope Marianne and Ginger like it. Next time my gold hit Smoak the Tragic Dragon and my platinum hit Hang Down Your Head Jeff Martin.

I'll miss ya, one of the friendly faces I always enjoyed seeing if only to just say Hi.

That and you made me a character in one of your books. I think that's one of the biggest honors I've ever had.

Just to finish up my lyrics with my two favorites. Anyone is welcome to use these lyrics if you wish, and I hope they inspire bards everywhere to bring fun and laughter to the dungeons.

Smoak the Tragic Dragon (with my sincere apologies to one of my favorite groups--saw them in concert 6 times PP and M)

Smoak the tragic dragon,
Lived in a cave.
He gnawed the bones of honest folk
and put them in their grave.

Little Jeffy Martin
Loved his dragon Smoak.
He gave him fangs, and ugly claws
and other nasty stuff.

Smoak the tragic dragon,
Lived in a cave.
He gnawed the bones of honest folk
and put them in their grave.

Together they would travel
On a boat with billowed sail.
Jeffy kept a lookout perched
on Smoak's gigantic tail.
Noble kings and princes
Fled the other way.
Only creatures from the deep
Would stick around and play.

Smoak the tragic dragon,
Lived in a cave.
He gnawed the bones of honest folk
and put them in their grave.

One day a valiant party
With weapons sharp and bright,
Entered into Smoak's dark cabe
To set the story right.
Jeff may live forever,
But not his dragon dear.
Trio Gambit entered the cave,
And ended all the fear.

Smoak the tragic dragon,
Lived in a cave.
He gnawed the bones of honest folk
and put them in their grave.

Jeff's head now bent in sorrow,
Big tears fell like rain,
And Smoak no longer gnawed on bones
Or gave the people pain.
Without his vicious dragon,
Jeffy lost his hoard.
The Trio split up all the loot,
And the town its approval roared.

Ooohhhh
Smoak the tragic dragon,
Lived in a cave.
Until the trio entered in
and sent him to his grave.

And now my all time favorite--Hang Down Your Head Jeff Martin with apologies to Tom Dooley and the Kingston Trio

Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Hang down ya head and cry.
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Y' monsters are gonna die.

We met up in the tavern.
I was singin' a little song.
When the cleric said, "We need ya."
I decided to go along.

(help me out now)
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Hang down ya head and cry.
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Y' monsters are gonna die.

By this time tomorrow
The dungeon will be clear
Hadn't been for our party
There'd still be a lot to fear.

(all together now)
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Hang down ya head and cry.
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Y' monsters are gonna die.

We'll sit around that table.
We'll be countin' all our loot.
An' the hides of the evil critters
Will be made into someone's boots.

(one more time now)
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Hang down ya head and cry.
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Y' monsters are gonna die.

(just for fun again)
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Hang down ya head and cry.
Hang down ya head Jeff Martin
Y' monsters are gonna die.

Those songs do bring back fond memories. Widseth, I remember singing Hang Down Your Head Jeff Martin with you, Douglas, Gary and someone else who I can't remember right now. It was in the exit room and Jeff was present to hear us sing it.
