Re: Group Joining/Formation 10 years 3 months ago #13

Would love to be the dedicated Paladin for your group but I have the following problem.

I've got a mix of two groups of people that are not even on the forums. That takes up at least three runs a year. If I add more than 2 additional I get grumpy so I am limiting myself to 4-5 each year.

Last year I did 8 runs and found out that was well beyond what I want to do in any given year. Had a great time with the synergy team run I was on but had to bow out this year. Same with the Blue Feather Run. No time to gear up the story for it this year and it would have added another run to the total.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

I may also be interested in forming/joining an additional group.

I am (and will continue to be) a formal member of the DDA. The past few years, I have mainly been working with them in terms of buying and filling out runs. I look forward to continuing this in the future.

But I have some other (non-DDA) friends I would like to run with as well. They are relatively newer players (though I can outfit them with Reds and some Purps).

This year I got 3 of my friends to do a DDA run (I suckered them into Nightmare! Ha ha! :P ) and my friends had a wonderful time! Next year I would like to do one (or maybe two) runs with those friends (and maybe a 4th one). But since:

1. I only do Nightmare
2. It's hard to guarantee slots for 3-4 non-DDA people on a DDA run
3. Time constraints - I can only do times that don't overlap with Grind, and my friends prefer Friday and maybe Thursday

So while I will still do some runs with the DDA, it is looking like if I want to do runs with these other friends, I may end up needing to buy a slot (or join a group).

I prefer to play Cleric, Druid, Paladin, or Rogue. My friends are pretty flexible as to the class they play.

I only have 1 Charm of Good Fortune (for myself) but might be able to borrow some more. And I would not mind using a RoSP voucher for whoever ends up playing the Bard (so we get a treasure finding Troubadour).

In all my many years of playing TD, I have never been on a run with you. I would like to rectify that.

My FT volunteer schedule and other commitments can make scheduling a PITA, but if we can make it happen I would love to do so.

Ideally, I think I would like to put together a core group of 7-8ish, which will consistent run with us each con and then have a group of people who are more constrained by schedules and volunteering who can patch fill the last 2-3 slots. This seems how many of the long-running TD groups work and it seems to provide the best of both worlds. You can the stability of a long-term group at the core and also some flexibility and variety to who's in each run.

As it stands, the schedule for when my group has run TD has also pretty much remained the same from year to year. We usually try to pick one TD Day where we stack runs back to back to back pretty tightly. This has usually turned out to be thursday the past few years. The idea is to start around noonish at the earliest and then get in up to 3 runs before a dinner break. Saturday noon to afternoon has also shaped up to be a good time lately as we finish Killer Breakfast and Nascrag changed to only having 2 rounds.

The ideal is to get in at least one run of each dungeon and one grind. So 5 runs total. In past years we've done as many as 8 or 9, but I'm not as young as I used to be. Slogging through the dungeon after a while starts to feel like a real endurance sport. Still, it would especially be great if a few people in the group who are willing to buy slots could get on skype or teamspeak or whatever during event reg and all try to coordinate to buy tickets. RIght now, it's just Richard and I and the more people we have the more likely we get teh slots we want.

I know this is a lot of pie in the sky planning for something which won't come into play for another 8 months, but I'd really like to have something solid next year. I'm just tired of PUGs and last minute scrambles.

As a volunteer who will sign up next year I can understand the scramble for scheduling. I would like to sign up for being a fill-in/round out player. Comfortable playing either fighter/ranger, debating on making the move/build either to monk or barbarian. Currently own a Charm of good fortune and 2 other random purps.

I want to more do nightmare runs for the XP and a few other runs/pugs with my exisisting/casual guys.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Matt, you can get the same XP in Hardocre, you just won't get both completion tokens. That being said, Nightmare is a challenge I look forward to once or twice a year :) As it looks like you have a good pile of people with overlapping classes, I would choose Monk over my first choice of Rogue if you could use me.

Thanks balthasar, didn't know that, then hardcore would work for me better overall as a redded out player. Did my first nightmare this year as a roundout for a DDA run and that was a little daunting the first time. Would like to try nightmare or at least grind again knowing how i fit into the group overall. I did a grind with Henwy and Richard this past year that was a memorable screwup on the Friday 8pm grind.

My girlfriend and I would love to be in that core group of players and 4-5 runs a year is perfect for us. Would be interested in doing both HC and NM runs

I've always played a wizard (either variety) and am starting to get decently geared. My normal group isn't up for Nightmare so it would be nice to find some people that are really up for the challenge. I have a charm of good fortune as well. I'm still a bit new to being active in the community but I'm hoping to change that =)

I would love to join a core group of people who want to run through the dungeons together every year.

My main class is monk, which I plan to gear up even more before next year, but I should be able to run most melee classes. I even did a run this year on Sunday with Incognito as the Bard, which was fun.

Yes, that was a fun run. Jake was an excellent Troubadour (I used a Rod voucher on him since he was Bard).

I know That Arcanist and myself have a dedicated six, and will hopefully buying out 4 full runs next year, and that fun that we had with Widseth and Kubu on the last run, only makes we want to run with more veterans even more.

We will always have at least 5 open spots but potentially more if we can swap between our set builds, Currently me playing a Monk, Arcanist being a Wizard, and our Main Bard, other then that we would love to form a regular balanced party to run Nightmare as I choose to sacrifice my Nightmare slot to a friend that wanted to run.
