Well, you already know one member - the question is whether you have enough skill to backstab Nightshade with a Nightshade's Sword?

Hey, I don't hold a patent on Double Down runs. In fact, I only organized 1 of the 3... other players did the leg work for the other 2. Both Valetutto and Xavon put together successful DoubleDown runs, and possibly others.

How would you do it? Buy a full slot of 10 tix, and advertise on the forums or contact specific individuals directly, asking for people who want to buy in for 2 tix. Or look for other people on the forums advertising the same thing ; )

As a note, the run I organized had a couple conditions: Everyone had to pay for 2 tix, AND have 2 Synergy charms. We also set things up so that everyone had (or had access to) 2 CoGF, tho that wasn't a hard&fast condition. I just really wanted the HP bonus to make our survival more likely.

How did you guys find the survivability at 5 phantom nightmare anyway?

Think it could be done with URs or are Legendaries a must?

Honestly with a kitted out Bard, Wizard and Monk or Druid you don't really need anyone else. I can't remember a combat that went into round 3 all weekend and 75+% of the damage came from Wizard/Monk + Druid or Ranger depending on Group.

Healing becomes a concern eventually.

So basically what you are saying is 3-4 chars geared out in legendaries and you should be fine?

Depends on what difficulty you run at and how competent the players are I think. Also, if everyone on the run has already played it at least once before and knows the answers to the puzzles that makes things much easier too.

My group did our double-down run on Hardcore and it was was easy for us. It was Sunday, and we all had played it before too. But we just wanted to have fun and goof off. Our group was all purpled out and even had a few legendaries. However I think we could have run without the legendaries and survived on Nightmare if we had wanted to be serious about it.

It was survivable, but hard.

Legendaries were not a requirement but it did help to have a couple of them in the group.

Later I went on a HardCore DoubleDown run (which Xavon organized) and we were running a UR & Relic-level party with just a couple Legendaries, and did just fine. Probably could even have survived Nightmare. (EDIT: As Adeya also noted, while I was posting : )

What Arcanist says is pretty accurate: Healing is the concern. We made sure our Druid or Cleric had the Eldritch Set and the Lenses of the Divine, and we were good.
If you bring extra Potions & scrolls to make up for the lack of healing spells available, that would also work (especially on those puzzle rooms where you take timed damage.)

Keep in mind tho: when you're only running with 5 players, there's half as many of you taking timed/push damage, so fewer people to heal up after.

We didn't have a cleric, but we did have a druid (healing), bard (jack of all trades), ranger (lots of damage), wizard (lots of damage), and paladin (healing, guard the wizard).

Yes this would be a picture of the group, with a young one the stole more then a treasure from a chest.
I see a healthy future for TD if this is any sign of the type of gamers it may pull in.

All of the children that came through my combat room were bright eyed and excited. Just feeding off their enthusiasm helped me to make those runs more interesting for all of the players. I hope I get to see more children playing in the coming years because they really make me smile when I describe to them how well they did on a spell or attack slide and you see the pride in their work.
