This will be included in the next version of the DMG (which should be posted SoonTM ) and was approved by Jeff:
While under the influence of fight after death, a berserker is only "mostly dead" until either reaching at least -49 HP or pushed into the next room while at 0 HP or lower. Effects that trigger on death cannot fire until the berserker is completely dead. Therefore, Potion Death's Door cannot be used until the berserker is completely dead.

Because Elixir of Life can be used either to restore a dead character to life (and full HP) or to fully heal a living character, it may be used at any time.

When used to revive a completely dead character, both Potion Death's Door and Elixir of Life must be administered by another living character. Life-restoring potions must be used in the room where the character died. The aforementioned potions must be administered before moving into the next room if the berserker dies due to negative HP not being healed before time runs out in a room.

Is there any part of that which needs to be clarified?

Thank you. I just wanted to clarify consumables since none of my party is worthy of Pelor's clerical magics.

I'm new around here, but a simple clear "Yes, the Potion of Death's Door can/can't be used to save the Barbarian," would be nice.

The text seems to be saying yes, you could use the potion... but since you are already being pushed out the door you can't use it... but you might be able to use it if the GM accepts the potion token as you walk out the doors...

Its Ambiguous, which is bad for a rule book.

It's not as simple as yes or no, but I'll see if I can distill it.

You may revive a dead dead berserker with PDD if you quickly inform the DM in the room you're about to get kicked out of that you want to use it. (Lollygagging or indecision equals true death.) If you wait until the next room, you may not use a life-restoring potion.

Does that help?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

That's the strategic description. The tactical is very simple;

If your barbarian goes into Fight After Death mode and it isn't the last room, have a PoDD in your hand!
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

One's newness is irrelevant Jake. A good question is a good question. :)

New wrinkle:

Barbarian is at -30 and the group is out of time. Clever player in the same group hands over a PoDD, and the barbarian is back up at 1 hp. Does push damage kill him again?

My apologies, I thought I had already replied to this question.

binia wrote: Barbarian is at -30 and the group is out of time. Clever player in the same group hands over a PoDD, and the barbarian is back up at 1 hp.

Potion Death's Door does not heal. Unless the barbarian is dead dead, a PDD is useless.

binia wrote: Does push damage kill him again?

For the sake of argument, let's say the barbarian hit -49 HP and became dead dead. A PDD was poured down barbi's throat and now barbi is alive with 1 HP. If the group then takes Push damage, yes, barbi would be dead dead.

My Suggestion: If barbi is in the mid range of negative HP and you're about to run out of time, take the Push damage first and then use the PDD. Just be speedy about it so you don't delay the room for the next group.
