In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Feedback and Suggestions

Re: Feedback and Suggestions 10 years 8 months ago #25

I'd really enjoy having the opportunity for a player vs. player group bar fight/combat. It could use standardized character cards with minimal / no additional tokens to speed things up. It would be a fun thing for people to do between Dungeons, and I'll bet you'd get quite a crowd watching instead of just leaving after the Dungeon. It could be done with just one volunteer manning it, and one combat board :)

I would think you would need two combat boards but one volunteer could man them both. Jeff mentioned wanting to do something like this at Whoyser Con for 2014.

I'm wondering whether it would be possible to organize some more Tavern games/quests with minimal strain on current volunteers. For example, could we pull from the playerbase to run more games like Rogues Game, or True Plinko, or something similar to True Craft but only running for 2-3 hrs/day in the storyscape.

I would love to see a Plinko game where your Treasure Coin could be used. Prizes to be determined. I would even volunteer to build and transport it.

I think if the person running these events wants to keep any profits then they would provide prizes. If Jeff subsidizes it, with prizes or volunteer tokens, then it's his. People running the store don't get a commission on what they sell, DMs don't get a cut of ticket sales, etc. Allowing a subset of volunteers to work on commission and not others would not be a good idea.

I agree as well. I would just like to see a game of chance besides the treasure pull.

Hoping this happens, as Whosyercon is about 5 mins from my apartment, lol.

Also agreed completely. I'd assume that any activities / events within the True Dungeon spaces would be official True Dungeon activities manned by True Dungeon volunteers, without any commissions involved.

Agreed again. Volunteers get compensated with things like badges, hotel accommodations (four to a room but I haven't had any reason to complain about any roommates yet since we all pretty much only come back there to sleep and shower between doing other stuff at the Con), and this year I *^&%ing loved the TD canteen we got as well this year since bottled water costs three bucks at concession stands and having a pint of water clipped to your belt loop is awesome when the nearest water fountain is three hundred yards away and the salt from a tasty (albeit overpriced) jumbo pretzel has sucked all the moisture from your body.

As to the multiple room options, that actually has been done once. Several tears ago we had "TD Retro" which was a recreation of the first, original TD dungeon with a twist. For the final room the party entered a hallway and were met by the DM who would tell them that for the final room they had a choice of a puzzle or a combat room. I was one of those DMs. Each shift I had one NPC/bluehand who would be listening through a curtain to hear the party's choice (the DM would generally verbally confirm this while standing next to that curtain so their associate would definitely hear). The NPC/bluehand would then haul butt either to crawl into the cabinet beneath the puzzle table or run around and put on the fire elemental costume for the combat. The single DM was trained on both options. I liked the idea and a lot of players told me that they liked having the choice. I would think it shouldn't be so difficult to write in conditions for two possible outcomes to a room and maybe have the DM check a box on the party card to tell the next DM which of the two paths the party is set for, making player action the deciding factor rather than the DM just saying "which door do you want?"

I like the idea of a split room. I also like the idea of a maze at the end. Heck, you can leave the group in a maze, even have both the puzzle and combat dungeons lead to the same maze. It wouldn't even really matter if the groups ran into each other because everyone would be trying to find their way out of it. Hell, you could do a massive maze to finish all four dungeons. A maze would be cool.

A Maze cool yes. In the current hall there just would not be the room though. You would need to give folks the option of skipping the maze as well though. People have other events to get to. Getting stuck in a maze would blow if you had something else you needed to get to.

A maze would be cool, but I honestly don't see how it could be feasible with the twelve minute timetable that the entire dungeon runs on. There were issues with the XP room this year, can you imagine if they suddenly had five groups (fifty players) run into each other and finally find the exit to the maze all at once?
