In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: About the 2013 vol tokens

Re: About the 2013 vol tokens 11 years 4 months ago #37

I believe it will be executed differently. The Storyscape is supposed to have different places you can use your Treasure Chips. Some with NPCs, soem with boxes that have different ratios of stuff. I believe one is supposed to be Monster Bit heavy, another Healing heavy and a third that is 'normal'.

I guess I'll put my name in the hat so to speak as well. If any Volunteers out there would like to supplement their Gen Con income, please feel free to PM me, as I as well as many on this forums would like the opportunity to purchase your rewards for volunteering :) Please PM me.

But that said, I wonder how many non-locals like myself volunteer full-time. Given the expense of travel and the time commitment, not to mention the orgy of other things at GenCon, I suspect few are willing to sacrifice that much time regardless of how interesting or fun it is. I realize the token economy needs to maintain balance, but upping the desirability of the volunteer tokens may solve many staffing issues with zilch increased expense to TD.

I don't think you need to worry that this would dilute the volunteer pool with people who are just in it for the money. The free badges and hotel rooms are much more responsible for that.

when you start to look at other company volunteers, TD is pretty comparable.

for example I'm a volunteer for the con itself.

I work six 8 to 9 hour shifts and again as needed on the Tuesday and Sunday night. for this I get entry, a shared hotel room, some system credit a few random freebies, like a shirt, and the best thing of all new friends.

I'm not alone in traveling long distances to volunteer, I know of people from the UK and Canada who fly over, not to mention from all over the US, just to volunteer.

the people make the event.

You're way undercutting TD, their volunteer rewards have been and continue to be WAY more then any other group outside of WotC. Free badge, free hotel, and teeshirts are pretty much the standard but the free food in the past and tokens and now being paid this year. It is the best rewarded volunteer position as well as the coolest volunteer position!!!

my main point is, all that stuff aside, it's the people who make it worth while :)

I'd rather work with cool and friendly people than be stuck in a horrible place with a penthouse

My husband (ChrisTheAbject) put in his name for the local build/tear down folks. Since we're in Indy, it's perfect for him. He's handy, proficient and a great guy! Plus, he loves building sets, setting stuff up, etc. He's an artist afterall.
