TOPIC: Official word on Ingredients and the 2010 4C token

Re: Official word on Ingredidnets and the 2010 4C token 14 years 8 months ago #61

<br />What would you consider a set?<br /><br />Kim<br />

<br />Those ingredients listed in the token guide by year:<br />
    <br />
  • 2006:Stone Spider Fang, Ghoul Tongue, Dryder Silk
  • <br />
  • 2007:Quicksilver, Shambler Slime, Ectoplasm
  • <br />
  • 2008:Mind Flayer Ooze, Outsider Feather, Stirge Spittle
  • <br />
<br /><br />I'd avoid the 2009TR set as they are part of 2009's Gen Con sets (just rearranged)

I like the idea of submitting a set or multiples of a past year's ingredient token in place of 1.  I also agree that the 4C should be difficult to make.  However, should we reward people for looking in the boxes and grabbing the tokens they wanted because the boxes were in a state of disrepair?  It's one thing to make it difficult to make an item.  It's completely another when you are rewarding bad behavior.  Now these same people will be able to command unequal trades or big $ because of this.  I'm not saying that everyone that pulled one did it this way.  But there is enough reasonable doubt to suspect this happened more often than not.

Jim,<br />  Thanks for clarifying.  Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.<br /><br />Kim

Forgive my ignorance as I am new.  What is the "4C" token you are referring to?

<br />Forgive my ignorance as I am new.  What is the "4C" token you are referring to?<br />

<br />So far there is only one: Medallion of Greyhawk<br /><br />Next year there will be a new one which will require all 6 ingredients from 2009's dungeons and at least 1 from 2010's dungeons.  It will somehow be linked to the 2 year dungeon theme.

Forgive my ignorance as I am new.   What is the "4C" token you are referring to?

<br /><br />All Regular Combo Tokens have a C rating of one to four* which is iconically represented on the token itself. ("C" stands for Cauldron.) Essentially it refers to both the relative power of the token and how hard it is to make. The more cauldrons, the better/harder it is. To date, 4C has been the top end.<br /><br />For details, see the "Constructed (Combo) Token" section starting on page 76 in the Token Guide .<br /><br /><br />*Trade Combo Tokens, which are also constructed, all have a single Anvil.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Also, a 4C token has only been available once so far. The current trend is to have one at the end of a dungeon story arc. So one was offered last year at the end of a three-year story arc, and one will be offered next year at the end of the current two-year story arc. I believe this trend is expected to continue, but you never know what Jeff has in store for the future.

I seem to have landed on the other side of the spectrum. I always get ingedients and never any rares. My brothers and friends on the other hand even manage on occasion land a purp. The creeper thorn was really hard to get though. I went through four times. Out of the four I got two creeper thorns, 2 wines, and three or four of the others plus some faire hammers. that was outta four runs. the Creeper thorns was scarce. No one but me got any on those runs. Plenty of the other ingedients for everyone else except that one. My gripe is never getting any purps on a draw, but i think everyone has that one =D reds are cool too, I just think I'm jinxed in that department. no one else in my group was.

So has a decision been made as to what the 4C for 2010 is going to be yet?<br /><br />Kim

<br />To All,<br />There has been some confusion as to what will be needed for the 4C token.  <br /><br />It will not include ingredients from the 2008 module (that is: feather, spittle, and ooze)<br /><br />The 4C will be made from any ingredient (monster trophy) exclusive to 2009, and one from 2010.<br /><br />So the ones needed for the 4C would be: tusk, tooth, slime, wine, thorn, and talon.  It would also include at least one ingredient from 2010's module(s).<br /><br />Dave<br />

<br /><br /><br />Forgive the further quesions, however.<br /><br />"...any ingredient exclusive to 2009" sounds like only ONE of any of the 2009 ingredients is required.<br />and yet<br />"the ones needed for the 4C would be: tusk, tooth, slime, wine, thorn, and talon" makes it sound like all SIX 2009 tokens are required.<br /><br />Could you please clarify?<br /><br /><br /><br />Thank you,<br /><br />John

It's 'any' as in _all_

<br />Yeah, "any" and "all" certainly mean the same thing.  (*boggles*)<br /><br />Have we had any no word yet what the 4C will be?  Last year's seemed weak to me, but perhaps I'm going to wish I had worked hard to get all of the 2009 ingredient tokens, eh?  <br />
