<br /><br />I'm in that boat with you H - but I am not quite as miffed...it always struck me as a RED...and the price I paid went to a friend, so it is all good!

<br /><br />There we go, Bro, back on the same page!  <br /><br />Sure, a stand-alone Trade-Item auction wouldn't need to reference GP at all!  It could just be in "Trade Units" or something, where Dwarven Steel, Minotaur Hide, Darkwood Plank, and Alchemists' Parchment are worth 1 unit, Elven Bismuth and Oil of Enchantment are worth 5 units, and Aragonite is worth 10 units (or whatever breakout is appropriate).  And maybe like you say, opening bid for some of them might be some set configuration of units.  Lots of ways to make that work, and have a lot of fun bidding in a second auction with Trade Item Tokens   =D

I still don't understand how a decision like that made it through the process without anyone realizing it was a major screw or people just not caring about it. It's too long ago for me to really recollect. Did the 07's get forum input before printing like the following years? I can't imagine that I woudln't have gone ballistic if I knew about it ahead of time.

<br /><br />Sure you can.  GP and Gems were renormed that way when auctions were started, and Combo Item Tokens were created.  The value of Gold Pieces and Gems went way up when both the auctions and the Combo Item Tokens were created.  The market had established a price, and that price changed.  Exactly what would happen here.  Nothing catastrophic happened when the GP and Gem values increased due to the auctions & combo tokens, and nothing catastrophic would happen here.    <br /><br />In fact, this change should have far less impact than that one did.  There were LOTS of people trading items for gold and gems even before the auctions were created.  Do you actually know of any trades where someone traded or sold a large amount of Trade Item Tokens?  I know a few sold on Ebay, and maybe a few were traded, but for the most part I think people have just traded in their own tokens to get these trade item tokens - in which case no harm done.

<br /><br />It seems like it's just the last couple of years that we've had such in-depth input on the token set through the entire process, doesn't it?  Two years ago a lot of it happened on the "Lords & Ladies" sub-forum and then the general forum, and this last year entirely through the general forum.  Before that, I think we basically just saw the set when it came out, right?  Of course - it's just the last two years that there have been such wholesale changes in the token make-up from year to year.  <br /><br />I think Jeff's done a wonderful job recently of making the token set generation such a community event.  =)

I vaguely remember the RoP...I think some consensus after it was PURP was that it was not a very good PURP and it would/should have been a RED.  I mean +1AC for a ring slot is RED not PURP in this day and age.  And also how many chars had at least a +1 RoP.<br /><br />NOW should there ever be a FIX...and say the PURP RoP becomes +1 AC AND +1 to all SAVES...that might make things a little better!

<br /><br />It was simple, prior to 2007 (the wooden tokens) it was an Ultra-Rare token, and then in 2007 it got "downgraded" to a Rare token.  Then, the value of the Ultra-Rare Ring of Protection +1 plummeted since it could be obtained relatively cheaply as a Rare. 

Collectors are not too bent, we still needed the token for the set...but folks that wanted one for AC reasons only were a tad put out.<br /><br />
