TOPIC: Arcane Recipe <=Artifact Creation Token

So much for Bucknards Everfull Bag of Doritos I suppose.

I like the idea of it being soul-bound once created.  It certainly would put more emphasis on the importance of the artifact and will encourage the lucky recipients to be a bit more creative, future-thinking and focused on what will help them long term, instead of trying to make a token they can pass around a lot. 

I'm not so much for it being soul bound. The item is going to run over $1000-$2000 in gold and ingredients , etc. What happens if I'd die tomorrow, would my son be able to use it, or is it now useless? What if it is an edged weapon and I end out having to play the Cleric? I think owners of artifacts would be honest follwing usage rules, i.e. using it once per day/year etc. Plus with such rarity others would know if you tried using it dishonestly.<br /><br />I think Artifacts should be just like any other item in the game with the exception of being just a little more powerful than an ultra-rare. It also adds some form of immortality if, having ones name on it like Dons Sword of Accuracy, would be able included in the token guide. But this would only work if ownership was transferable. This is what would make it worth bidding on. If it was tied to just one person for all times, and not in the tokens guide, I'd be less inclined to spend any high amount of gold on it.

If I somehow got the token I would want to make it so I could pass it within my group. I would not want it soul bound. I would have to opt for the less powerful token. I don't mean lending to people to do runs ither runs. My group when we do the run different people use our AoW. It will just depend on what is going on.

Another advantage for being soul-bound - if nobody else likes that, then I'll win them for cheap in the auction!  =)<br /><br />(just kdding, I'm sure they will go high regardless of whether they are soul-bound). 

I guess I'd vote for soul-binding.<br />

Based on what Jeff said... there's probably a way for it not to be "soul bound" but then it would be less powerful.. since it wasn't user specific.<br /><br /> ans the dorito thing.. jeff's opinion... meaning in TD it's fact until he changes his mind.

<br />I'd go for soul bound, too....  the smart creator won't make an edged weapon.  Although think of this scenario:<br /><br />Artifact owner:  hey group, I got this way cool, one of a kind +4 Sword of Skull Cleaving, so I'd like to be the fighter.<br />Group: Sorry, the only openings we have are for Wizard and Cleric - but you can borrow my sling.<br /><br />

I'd rather see it just be cool in general.  It isn't like this item will be loaned out to 10+ runs, maybe 1 or 2 extra or so.  <br /><br />If it has more usefulness, it'll command a higher price as well.<br /><br />I don't know if I would even want a token that only I could use.  It'd force me into one class and I couldn't be the guy who introduces my friend to the game with a really coooool item.  "Hey, you can use my item.  how do you know its mine, read the name!"<br />

There are lots of Items that'd be Artifact level without being Class specific.<br /><br />Deck of Many things.... "come on Draw.. how bad can it be?"<br /><br />I suspect that Jeff will let the Artifact be "non personalized" if it's reduced in effectiveness.<br /><br />when it comes down to it... I'd rather have it be personalized...your chance to leave a Mark on the TD world forever.

There are cheaper ways to leave your mark. Like those people who were playing sucky sucky on the couch
