We've had a fair amount of feedback on the 2Edge sword... anyone have other ideas?

I don't know what else to add about the 2edge sword at this point. I liked the "draws the first attack ability, which seemed amazingly good. The higher damage cap, but could bite you as well if you hit the low damage spot on the wheel was meh. So I have a list of 3.5 ability enhancements for weapons listed below...maybe something in there will kick up a new idea.

* Anarchic
* Axiomatic
* Bane | Discussion
* Brilliant Energy
* Dancing
* Defending
* Disruption
* Distance
* Flaming
* Flaming Burst
* Frost
* Ghost Touch
* Holy
* Icy Burst
* Keen
* Ki Focus
* Merciful
* Mighty Cleaving
* Returning
* Seeking | Discussion
* Shock
* Shocking Burst
* Speed
* Spell Storing
* Thundering
* Throwing
* Unholy
* Vicious
* Vorpal
* Wounding
* Soulbound
* Acidic Burst (p129)
* Aquatic (p129)
* Corrosive (p129)
* Dessicating (p131)
* Dessicating Burst (p131)
* Duststorm (p131)
* Blurstrike (p170)
* Hideaway (p171)
* Deadly Precision (p127)
* Sizing (p127)
* Clouting (p143)
* Magebane (p143)
* Skillful (p144)
* Ghost Strike (p77)
* Profane (p77)
* Profane Burst (p77)
* Sacred (p77)
* Sacred Burst (p77)
* Necrotic Focus (p77)
* Burning (p266)
* Earthbound (p266)
* Finesse (p266)
* Keeper's Fang (p266)
* Waterborn (p266)
* Bloodseeking (p134)
* Deflecting (p134)
* Disarming (p134)
* Exit Wound(p134)
* Explosive(p134)
* Knockback (p135)
* Last Resort ((p135)
* Deadly Precision (p40)
* Doom Burst (p40)
* Fear Burst (p40)
* Maiming (p40)
* Paralytic Burst (p40)
* Prismatic Burst (p41)
* Slow Burst (p41)
* Sonic (p41)
* Sonic Burst (p41)
* Ghostbane (p63)
* Merciful (p63)
* Screaming (p64)
* Snakebiter (p64)
* Torturous (p64)
* Truesilver (p64)
* Vampiric (p64)
* Venomous (p65)
* Acidic Burst (p95)
* Balanced (p96)
* Binding (p96)
* Commanding (p96)
* Corrosive (p96)
* Crazed (p96)
* Disarming (p96)
* Energy Aura (p96)
* Eager (p96)
* Everbright (p96)
* Fierce (p96)
* Force (p96)
* Fortunate (p97)
* Grasping (p97)
* Harmony (p97)
* Heartfinder (p97)
* Impact (p97)
* Ki Focus (p97)
* Knockback (p97)
* Merciful (p97)
* Precise (p97)
* Proficient (p97)
* Quick-Loading (p97)
* Radiant (p97)
* Screaming (p97)
* Seeking (p98)
* Shadowstrike (p98)
* Shrinking (p98)
* Stunning (p98)
* Sure Striking (p98)
* Sweeping (p98)
* Vicious (p98)

Thanks for posting this list... are the page references for the DMG? Some of this crack me up... "Icy Burst" makes me think of chewing gum. Disarming, even though it should be obvious what it does, made me imagine the following exchange.

The mindflayer leapt from the shadows, "FOOLS! Now you will meet your end!"
With a swift movement, the warrior drew his +2 Disarming Sword. "Bring it."
The mindflayer's disposition changed immediately, "Oh my... what a nice sword. Wherever did you get it? Would you like some tea?"

But it is a good list for brainstorming!

The wizard is way overdue for an overhaul in TD.

I am curious... you mean token-wise or the way spells are done? If this is a "thread highjack" then PM me or start a new thread... I am curious because I have never played the Wiz and it seems to me that the Wiz in our group is blasting the heck out of everything (so I don't feel it is an under-powered class, so I wonder what your ideas are).

Wizards *do* get a number of scrolls every year, which is kinda like "free spells"...

No, I wasn't trying to threadjack. I was just caught in a loose association on this thread after a demanding work day.

I played the wizard almost exclusively when I was not a DM through numerous game systems and groups of players with vastly different views. I played mostly in the late 70s and early 80s and then didn't play for 20 years until my son and I discovered TD. I did play a few computer games in between like Baldur's Gate (absolute bets story) and Morrowind (amazing creativity and great entertainment). Things were a little simpler then, but what I can say about the wizard is that in all of these settings, successful balance that includes the wizard (and everybody does) requires the wizard to be able to dominate in magic. The wizard needs stronger and better spells than everybody else, more spells than everybody else, and more creatively varied spells than everybody else. The wizard needs to be able to do things in the game that nobody else can do, using magic. The converse of this is that the wizard is particuarly susceptible to physical attack, and cannot withstand much, especially at lower levels of experience. The two big modifiers for TD are (1) the decision on who the monster attacks is not clear cut; and related (2) there are no location modifiers to the likelihood of attack. For example, it doesn't matter if I am standing next to the monster or on the other side of the room, my likelihood of being its target is the same. So, there is a challenge with fulfilling the destiny of the wizard in TD and I don't have all the answers. I've seen some brilliant and innovative ideas come out of this forum so I am sure some more will, but right now the wizard looks like the class carries most of the weaknesses but not the strengths that have been its saving grace in other venues. That's not to be overly critical, there have been specific rooms and specific situations in TD where the wizard had a particular skill and capability that did stand out exceptionally. I guess I'm just partial to this class because it does have such creative and entertainment potential.

I think the Wizard discussion could be interesting, so I opened a new thread here:
Wizard Class brainstorming...
I just had an idea about the Mithral set. There is a lot of concern over what items can be used by which classes and how to make it work and available for more classes. What about just making it a Mithral property that anyone carrying 3 Mithral items, regardless of what they are, gets the power? Anyone who has 5 gets the 2nd power. That way, there could be 1 or maybe 2 Mithral items per year and new players would feel they have a shot at getting a cool set bonus in a few years regardless of when they start. This also gives people who play classes that otherwise couldn't use the Mithral set a possible opportunity and thus an incentive to pick up the Mithral items they can use with hopes that in the future other items might come out that they can use and complete a 3 or 5 item set for their favored class.

The same concept could apply for other item types like Celestial and others that are only in Jeff's imagination.

This also simplifies the rules so players and DM's don't have to remember what the 2008-09-10 Mithral power bonus is. It's just the "3 item Mithral bonus" and easily added to the token guide.

The carry to get bonus thing sounds unpleasant. You'll end up with some people with 4-5 set bonuses active at once. The whole point should be you have to wear it to get it. I'm also not sure why having a crapload of mithril items would make things less confusing. At least as it stands now, everyone/'s likely to know all the items of a set. I just can't see the player coaches inventorying every player to see what sets they have on them.

Some classes simply won't be able to use some sets. It's just like equipment in general. Not all classes can use all items. I don't see any real reason to change that. eventually, as the years go by, there will be more and more sets and people will have some degree of choice among them.

Carry is probably the wrong word there. Equip would be much more clear. I agree you don't want people having a lot of multiple set bonuses and certainly don't want to make things harder for the coaches or DM's.

The other thing is does it make sense that there will never be Mithral items again that aren't reprints? It seems like a good material to make other things out of.

Yous guys bring up a good point...

Tracking sets - for now this is a player responsibility with DMs checking IF needed...(and I say IF because things like the Dragonscale set might be put away - far away...once checked in by the Player Coaches...)

So should there be symbols or things for the Party Card to show that certain players have certain SETS in play?

I was thinking about this too... I was picturing the normal party card having a place at the bottom to clip an "additional info" laminated card on (and that also has a place to clip additional cards... you programmers out there can think of it as a Decorator type pattern)... the additional card could have that set's info on it and assigned by the party coach at the start after verifying the tokens are being equipped. The downside is that you may have people try to make off with the additional clip-on cards.

Or maybe you can use rubber-stamps to put symbols directly on the party card (probably less expensive). Either way, the new caddies would help to carry all this stuff.
I was just re-looking over that list of 3.5 special powers posted earlier today and I saw Truesilver listed. I don't know what "Truesilver" is in 3.5, but I like the phrase- it might be good for describing weapons which do extra damage to lycanthropes- like the sickle in the new set. You could have weapons crafted from Truesilver similar to the +3 to Fae weapons/armor in the new set. So if this is adopted, I think the Sickle should read "Truesilver Sickle".
