Much as I hate to say it ( cause I hate HoP's) Gary's correct that targeting long term players (not stacking it) will not be well recieved. Personally I'd like to see it stack, but take up a slot (any) If it doesn't take up a slot, then it seems fair to find some different method to 'activate it'

I liked the "get an extra token if you were hit by the monster" suggestion.

It turns bad luck (getting hit) into good.
It encourages others to act valiently (blocking for others just became more useful)
There's no longer a token combo ( since the 2 edged sword has been re-worked)
and it may cause groups to go with less armor (which may re-arrange the token values after time)

btw... the Monks should be able to use the Cestus instead of the Bracers of the Dragonfist ( personal opinion) 2 UR's would be a Mighty step up, and would encourage some monk action....better I think than leaving them UR free.

Hmm. Interesting ideas Gary. Here's one for you. If I have two charms on my person, do I get the equivalent of a HOP?

In this case, I would think only one per person could be in effect.

oh - was thinking the HoP gives 2 extra tokens and takes a slot.

The charm - (if it changes to mini HoP) would give 1 token and not take a slot...

hmmm - I think I would trade the HoP for any of the other NICE new amulet items and just use the charm (if they did not stack.) SO - if Jeff is reading this and wants to tone down (NERF) the HoP use...well making the charm a mini-HoP might be the answer.

But don't tell my Bro about this plan...he'd go nutz having as many HoPs as he has...

Do whatever you want with the new token Bro - but leave my Horns o' Plenty alone =)

Well, I've read through some of the posts Bro - let's see...

I like leaving the token as is - and I like leaving it as whomever has a "20" once everyone has slid. That makes an interesting dynamic if more than one person has a Charm, it really forces teamwork.

If the Charm were made as a mini-HoP, slotless and one token and does not stack with HoP, I would still not trade in my HoP's, I'd keep them in the neck slot and get that extra token. If I were Jeff I'd definitely make whatever "bonus token drawing" items he comes up with stack, because his core audience is the people that like bonus tokens, and a large percentage of them already have HoP's - so why make a token that is designed so that it can't be used by most people that would enjoy it?

If the Charm were slotless and added one Token for every token draw, it would be overpowered - and I'd try to get as many as I could, so I'd get 3 bonus draws per teammate per treasure box! I don't think Jeff is going to go that direction again. I wouldn't mind seeing a slotted item that stacked with the HoP and gave one bonus token per draw...

Because eventually if you make them stack, in 10 years you would have *ahem* groups that can basically just ask for the entire treasure box with all the stackable token draws.
But the DM gets what 3 maybe 4 rolls a combat (that is generous!)...and that means not everyone will be the targeted...so the charm essentially will never get used in a dungeon run. And given that the die roll is a true 5% chance VS sliding where your aim improves your odds...you're making a FUN UR PURP into a worthless UR PURP in my opinion.

If it must change - toss it out completely and put in something usable.

I totally agree with Gary. Changing the token to "Monster rolls a 20" would make this a really lame UR. The chances that you would get hit by a 20 on a run are so small that it makes the token almost forgettable. If a run has 4 combats, and each lasts an average of 3 rounds, and even if each round a monster has 2 attacks, that's 24 attacks per dungeon run. So, the chances are that there will be about one 20 rolled per run. That seems about right from my experiences. When you consider that there are 8 possible targets per attack, each player might get hit with a 20 every 8 runs. Yes, I'm rounding a little and some characters will get hit more than others, but you get the idea. There is a big difference between slide a 20 and roll a 20.

Basically this would still be near useless as a rare, but it wouldn't be so annoying to get if I pulled it as an UR treasure. I certainly wouldn't make it a PYP or buy it secondhand for more than a few dollars.

Well, at least if the items took slots, then people would have to voluntarily give up that slot for the token drawer, so they are making a sacrifice, rather than having slotless items like this one.

I'd prefer that there be no more "extra token drawing" tokens at all - but if there are going to be more, I'd prefer that they take up slots, like the Horn of Plenty does.

I don't know. I think that there will be more slotless items, the first part of the Rod comes to mind. We seem to have a lot of items in most of the current available slots (weapons, armor, rings, amulets) (head gear next year). There needs to be a way to affect sales, slotless items seems a great choice.

the first part of the rod is a 1 hand item as I recall ( look at the bottom)
