TOPIC: 2009 Ultra Rare Tokens <Feedback Please

<br /><br /><br /> and the boots are a re-make of the elvenkind boots in effect ( I believe)  with a bumed up rarity.. It seems backwards.<br /><br />These are really Boots of the Drow -- as they are Boots of Elvenkind only better because the attacker gets a +2 attack bonus.<br />

<br />I am sorry, but I cannot imagine any Drow willing to wear keebler shoes.  You have no black biker boots with skulls on them for art? Or snakeskin/gatorskin boots?  <br />

oh, hey...here is a thought for the lucky charm: person with this charm can draw treasures even if they are dead.  also, draw 2 extra treasures if you died in this room.<br /><br />making them two seperate statements allows someone to be brought back to life and still draw the bonus treasure for death.  it gives a kind of insurance and even gives a bonus when you fall into misfortune.  though, if people think the two extra draws at what one hopes are infrequent times arent worth dying for /arent worth bothering with this token, raise it to the point it feels 'balanced'...perhaps at 5 tokens you will actually have players trying to get killed...but then they need thier team to complete the room or else no treasure for anyone...i think this would be hilarious.

Circlet of the Arch-Druid: Charged ultra rares seem lame.  Could you make it use a high level spell slot?<br /><br /> Circlet of Elemental mastery: Thank you for removing the need to guess to get it to work proper.<br /><br /> Questor's Charm of Luck: The need to slide a 20 seems a bit harsh.  It favors melee characters.  It leaves out in the cold casters dealing automatic damage spells.  It leaves out in the cold healers for healing in combat.  It leaves out in the cold bards singing.  Don’t get me wrong.  I am all for more tokens, but this one looks underpowered.  I think this would make a great combo item.<br /><br /> Hand of Glory: Wearer may use one additional ring . . . new wording?<br /><br />Can you please add a token that uses gold?  It would be nice to use gold in game, before the game, or after the game.

I think that I agree with those folks about the longsword being 1-handed. After all it is a longsword. If it's two-handed then really it should be a different weapon category. I actually dont mind that it's two-handed, just that its a longsword AND two-handed.

Regarding the Circlet of Arch-Druid: from the viewpoint of a collector or someone paying to PYP,  charged ultra-rares aren't very good. However, I think a newer or more casual player who gets the circlet at random in a token pack would be very excited about the 'coolness' of polymorphing into Dire Bear and the potential to do a lot of damage. I think that it is ok to have some ultra-rares that aren't collector friendly.

Mithral Helmet - thought the idea was to let the Ranger wear this so that the Ranger class could complete the Mithral set.  I would let the Ranger wear it.<br /><br /><br />I agree with this. It should be useable by the Ranger

<br /><br /><br />I had that assumption too. The Bard has the same dilema of being able to use the mithral chain and longsword, but not the helmet.

<br /><br />I can live with the helm not being available to the bard, if there is a 4th mithral item next year and maybe a 5th the following, etc.  I think a great set of mithral items could be in store.  I could see mithral bracers, shield, greaves, bow, trimmed boots, mithal rogues tools, staff, or rod.  On and on.  Any combination of three or four items could trigger a special effect depending on which items were used.  As someone who usually plays bard, I would have preferred a shield, but I could live with a future mithral headband or crown or hat sewn with mithral thread.  Who knows?  From year to year life is like a box of chocolates.  You never know what--well you know the rest.

I really like the Double-Edged Sword - it has about an extra +1 in damage, but in exchange the wielder gets the first attack of every single monster in every single room, which seems like a more than adequate compensation.  Plus, it really evokes the flavor of the pure fighter, jumping into the room with a massive sword to hack monsters to pieces, and being the focus of attack by the monsters.  <br /><br />I also like the Charm - it won't yield as many free tokens as the Horn of Plenty (unless you're GREAT at sliding), but at the same time it takes no slot, which is a huge advantage.  While the Horn of Plenty is great, it keeps you from using other great items like the Amulet of Wonder, Medallion of Greyhawk, and Torc of Natural Armor (with more to come).  If I can buy enough tokens, I'd like to pick one up for myself.  It will be interesting, if you've got a party with multiple Charms, if you have someone sliding a 20, and someone else knocking it out of the 20 as they try to get a 20 themselves.  <br /><br />The PURP I most want to get to use myself this year is the Celestial Bracers, although I'd settle for the original +2 Bracers also since I won't be using the full Celestial set.  That is the only item I see myself using as a Druid out of the PURPs this year (other than maybe a Charm).  I will rarely use a sling, so I can settle for a +1 Sling.  The Circlet of the Druid is out, since it would take the place of my Dragonscale Helm, plus I really don't like using consumables (especially PURP ones).  <br /><br />For the party, I'd like to pick up a Gearon's Mace for the Cleric, several pairs of Celestial Bracers for party members, and maybe a few Crown's of Might for the classes that can't wear Helms, and maybe  Mithral Helmet for the Barbarian.  Not that I can afford all that - but if I could, that's what I would get.  <br /><br />For the Hammer of Thunderbolts - what does "Special Attack against Giants" mean?  Shouldn't the token say what that special attack is?  (apologies if that has already been addressed).
