TOPIC: Oh...and one more important token fact for 2009...

<br />Sounds like a cool idea to me.  Although, I'm going to go nuts trying to find out what's cursed.  <br /><br />"I'll use my Great Axe."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my Sling."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my Halberd."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my Masterwork Silver Dagger."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my +1 Mithral Long Sword."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my Potion of Owl's Wisdom."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my ...."  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my Waterskin".  OK, no effect.<br />"I'll use my Silver Candlestick."  OK, you find out that it's a cursed Silver Candlestick.  The candles melt and you take 4 pts damage from hot wax.<br /><br />SWEET, I FOUND IT!!!<br />

<br />This just sounds... odd. Is it supposed to represent an actual cursed item, or some strange magical spell for that particular room?<br /><br />I wouldn't bring anything into the dungeon that was cursed, but I figure anything found *inside* would be fair game. It'd be awesome if it were possible to mark some of the treasure as cursed, maybe using that UV-reactive ink. Too much of a hassle and confusion, I suppose, but that would represent cursed items much more effectively.<br />

  My impression is that it is supposed to represent a cursed item and not a strange magical spell for that particular room.  As for carrying a cursed item into a dungeon, back in the old days of D&D that wasn't always an option!  A lot of times when you found a cursed item you were stuck with it (and in some cases were forced, by the curse, to use that cursed item!) unless you could get a remove curse spell cast, and those weren't available to low level adventurers and with some DM's they it was awfully hard to find someone to cast it on you and incredibly expensive when you did find them!  Given that there is no way to force players to rake in an actual cursed token (after all, if they don't tell anyone they have it no one will ever know) this seems the best way to represent it in True Dungeon.

this sounds awesome, but I think this should be directed towards the Nightmare groups and have one for everyroom.

The challenge for the idea of one in everyroom for nightmare is there is little to no time to do a full dungeon redress in every room. So if it was nightmare only then it would probaly be a token in everyroom that only get activated if they party card says nightmare.

I would think the curse would be more serious for nightmare groups, but it would be impractical for the dungeon to try to have extra curses for them.<br />
