Find familar was never a guarentee the way it used to work. It cost a crapload of gold, took huge amounts of time, and only had something like a 10% chance per level of success if i recall correctly. If we're going to be chucking out familiars, something that's going to be potentially very troublesome from a dungeon mechanic point of view, then I think there has to be commensurate costs and risks involved. I don't mind giving people a shot, but make them pay 1k, the UR item, and have it be random based on level.

Not neccessarily, with the introduction of the AoW, some players were 4th Level, and on what was it the GOLD Ticket Run players were automatically 4th level.<br />So there are tokens and special runs that augment player character level.<br /><br />Although I do think that would be interesting to have special abilities, items or such usable only with certain levels. <br /><br />Such as perhaps special wizards staff or items requiring advanced skill to wield that can only be used by player characters 4th level or higher(leave it open ended for Jeff).

You are right about the levels not being the same when you take that into account.  The only thing is that the effect of the AoW is supposed to change every year.  Who knows what Jeff will dream up for 2009?  I have to admit that's the one ultra rare that I wished had stuck around for another year.<br /><br />Kim

HAR HAR!!<br /><br />I like the idea of magic resistance - doing a percentage, though, would add more dice for the DM, (unless you used 50%).  It could be represented by an extra saving throw.<br /><br />Familiars would be too kewl.<br /><br />Stonehenge chip - +1 to character's wisdom (or automatically getting max result on cleric/druid skill test, usable once per adventure)

Vampiric Arrow:  If hit with bow Vampiric Arrow does 2 points of damage every round until combat over.  If miss the arrow is lost.

Probably too complicated for actual use, but rituals would be fun. Could be a new token type or a subset of scroll. Rituals would be usable during combat, but all players would have to give up their attack for a round. <br /><br />Scroll: Ritual of Steel- No players attack for 1 round, automatic 20 hp damage to monster<br />Scroll: Ritual of Life- No player may attack this round, all players healed 1 hp<br />Scroll: Ritual of Oak- No player may attack this round, all players +1 strength<br /><br /><br />
