TOPIC: Radical change to Common Tokens (discussion)

Re: Radical change to Common Tokens (discussion) 15 years 7 months ago #37
The problem is not all of the party members always know each other. I think once they register/sign in, they should report to their table and take a seat and not move except for quick trips to answer the call of nature.

I don't know what the toilet facilities will be like in the warehouse, but maybe having a port-a-potty near the training room (for that last-minute pit-stop before entering the dungeon proper) would be a good idea. :O
Legally... its questionable. Morally... its disgusting. Personally... I *like* it.

just be glad that the restroom facilities isn't a 5 gal bucket with the note "If you fill it it is your job to dispose of it"

That IS good advice. No matter how bad you think you have it, things could be worse.
How about we just take down a cell phone number of one of the party members, and then call that when it is time? Tell them to put it on vibrate.

But then Henwy doesn't get to chop off anyone's fingers. Wasn't that the point of this thread??

That might be something to look into for next year for Joyus and I, if Joyus volunteers for the madness of co-managing the tavern again next year. Moving the token trading area closer to the dungeo exit so that they can hit the groups coming out and looking to trade their loot from the dungeon. I would also like to figure out a way to have token traders near the entrance to the coaching area so that they can help the coaches by preparing the groups going in.

I know the thread kind of turned to the restaurant buzzer thing, but I was going to say that being able to trade *before* going in the dungeon would be awesome to have back. There were lots of things I wanted to trade/purchase, but I didn't have time after leaving. It definitely didn't seem as useful then.

Just imagine opening your only pack of tokens and getting a bunch of GP as your rare.

Well that was why we started having the Coaches equip people in need. Granted we had mostly GREENS but getting +7 +2 +1 AC on a fighter type was usually a very happy moment for people. Likewise getting a barbarian from dagger to Great Club was kewl too.

The only bad thing about having a "shop" before the run is that too many times people would lose track of time and miss the start of their run. Now the Coaches job and the Parties experience is off to a bad start.

G

A bad start? Oh, I get it - trying to track down missing people is the bad start. Never mind me - still waking up.

I agree trading before the run leads to missing party members.

How about we just take down a cell phone number of one of the party members, and then call that when it is time? Tell them to put it on vibrate.

In addition tell people that if they aren't in the marshalling area at least two minutes before it is time to go into the training room that their run will be given to someone on the waiting list. Tell people that they are about to lose $40 if they don't show up and you'd be surprised at how well they'll be sure to show up on time.

Also, what about the possibility of having a side entrance that connects the marshalling area and the tavern? That way a True Dungeon volunteer can quickly cut through to the tavern IF they have to go hunt for someone.

Additionally, what about the possibility of assigning Team Names based on the time slot. Basically someone hands in their ticket, get their wrist band, and on the band is their Team Name (such as Orc, Elf, Troll, Dragon, Fireball, etc.) and they are reminded to pay attention to their team name. Then, if anyone has to go looking for wayward Dungeoneers they can call out team name and time. This will also allow people to more easily find team mates whom they may not know. I know that it wouldn't fit in but what about a scrolling marquee in the tavern? It can flash upcoming time slots that are about to start.

I recall in 2004 TD:SC (so was that really 2005) anyway the broken pentagram year, the tavern lady sold tokens for gold allowing for some price controlled trading. Perhaps the trick is to shrink the tavern area just a smidge and create in that space in the mustering area a merchants long table. Perhaps including the restriction that all trades use the price guide prices to make trades quick and fair. If you don't like the prices you can trade outside or in the tavern, but at least you have a shot of liquidating commons, uncommons, even rares if you wanted, for fixed prices. By having this area inside the mustering area it would limit the wandering off of players, yet keeps the tavern activities seperate from the chaos of the muster.
