TOPIC: Could 2009 be the year of reprint?

Re: Could 2009 be the year of reprint? 15 years 8 months ago #73

People who used Endure Elements walked across it to and had it over in 60 seconds. And that was only a green.
So they had to rule that it was magical lightning and not natural lightning. And endure elements worked against Natural. Things don't have to Ultra Rare to 'break' a room if you haven't planned for it.

So plan for it, what can 'break' a room? And what are some consequences we can inflict or result trigged. Let people have their fun and use their tokens, otherwise why make them?
Especially on hardcore, man you're just asking for it! heeheheh. Like areas that have dispell wards, so spells and scrolls are ineffective. Flyer drops painfully to the floor, 2pts. damage. Buwahahaha

ROOM DONE in 60 seconds. Now what? Man - TD really needs to build a better dungeon with challenges that are well challenging! OR worst case - someone says "What a rip-off."

I think that is exactly what people would think. Its hard to please everyone.

Indeed - but by understanding that every room has a "correct" solution and maybe more...everyone should understand that if something is nerfed it is for a reason - that reason being, you have to discover the more difficult solution. People may not like being "forced" to think up the harder solution, but you paid your money to play TD - sometimes the solutions are hard.

(I'm with H - the chess room was difficult - and I too could not read the sign!)

EXACTLY my point...some things need to be nerfed from time to time...make the room make people think - if they can't come up with the solution kill them all (well ok have some reasonable consequence...which I think TD does...)

I would have let it go personally. Endure elements was and is a pretty useless token overall and getting across the board wasn't the whole chicken enchilada. If an entire party wanted to burn 7 endure's to bypass, I feel like they should be able to. That's sort of a pricey expenditure, even if it is in greens, to get through a puzzle.

But people also paid money to buy tokens, and being told you can't use them is hard to swallow too.
Don't mind me I'm just playing Devils Advocate. But I think there are some fun elements that could be introduced if you planned on if these items get used. That present the players with a different challenge. Especially on hardcore.

Of course honestly it doesn't matter to me. I neither play nor buy tokens. So whether things are nerfed or not don't really affect me. Just tossing out the idea that some fun detours could be added instead of outright roadblocks if some people want to use their purps.

Good discussion for sure! Lots of good thoughts expressed!

Makes me wonder if TD should consider only having direct damage (or protection/cure) scrolls and remove things like Mage Hand and Endure Elements, and fly etc...

It would sure add value to CHAR card spells if these things were only found on cards...but would TD then have to change card spells every year...(expensive and also a big clue what to do...)
