I still think that The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch would be a great one-shot Ultra Rare token. DC 12 save or monster "shall snuff it!"

Or you design the room to counter certain actions: the "silence" room...or even the "Key room" having the shere also be an anti-magic sphere...
Then there becomes no point in producing specific tokens if you are going to negate them in rooms where they are useful. Sure, they might be nice collectable tokens for some, but a lot of people buy tokens to use them, and if someone has a fly token and every time he could use it effectively he's told that "factor X" prevents him from using it he's going to start to get pissed off.

For a gamer you have a really limited imagination!

I'm saying, if you design an AWESOME room, but an existing token that is not part of the planned solution screws with it - you build into the design the "factor X" and force people to come up with the solution you had invisioned...

There is absolutely no difference in putting string up the next day - over building in "factor X" to nerf the easy solution. Players who begrudge that over not being able to think out the correct solution have only their limited imagination to blame.

You must not have much experience with gamers. There's a reason the so-called plot wagon is so loathed. Gamers don't usually like railroads in my experience.

Well sorry, my D&D days were filled with trying to figure out the DM and the world we were in...sort of like trying to get in Jeff's head and figure out his puzzles...go figure. Railroads are part of the problem solving and without them, there is little reward.

For a room to have multiple solutions so simple that you can sit back and decide which course to take - well that would surely take the fun out of it!

I have not meant any disrespect - but the goal is to experience a challenge and have fun is it not!

Also mage hand can be limited quite easily. I asked the dm of the key room this year after the puzzle was solved how they were handling mage hand and was told that since the dome was magically sealed it would not penetrate the dome.
