TOPIC: Effect of Gold Tickets on Token sales.

Didn't you see all the hype when the season 1 DVD came out for Sesame Street?  They were thinking of giving it an adult (not NC17 or anything) rating because of what was going on in the show?<br />OK, so maybe it wasn't MADE for adults, but certainly doesn't fit the kind of shows we make for kids today.  Then again, most of the shows from the 70s are a bit odd...

<br /><br />That's for sure.  At the very least, the people writing the show and doing the Muppet characters were including adult-level humor to keep people's attention.<br />

Maybe it was false rumor, but I thought the other reason was to acknowledge that the learning methods and standards were not up to today’s par.  By giving it the rating, they were trying to prevent parents from relying on it as an educational tool.

I can not say if I heard that on NPR or one of my Podcasts, but it struck me as ironic, if true.<br /><br />

<br /><br />Liz got both discs 1 and 2 for christmas.  <br /><br />The weird thing is Teagan actually pays more attention to the old Sesame Street teaching style than the the newer "crap" on TV.  She watches more closely, pays more attention, and repeats what's going on. and actually learns...hmmm.  Its amazing how old teaching is put away even when it works.  I wonder if you have come across this in your teaching Brian?<br /><br />Sorry to add to the hijacking of this thread.

There are certainly trends that come and go, but the basic ideas still seem to work as long as you have committed teachers.<br />
