I always thought it was interesting that the original movie was made to promote a candy bar. I think the movie cost 3 million to make and the candy bar was either never introduced or was an immediate flop when it was introduced.

Kim

From the Internet Movie DataBase ( www.imdb.com )

The film was originally financed by the Quaker Oats Company. They hoped to tie it to a new candy bar they intended to bring on the market. When the film was released, the company began marketing its "Wonka" chocolate bars. Unfortunately, an error in the chocolate formula caused the bars to melt too easily, even while on the shelf, and so they were taken off the market. Quaker sold the brand to St. Louis based Sunline, Inc. (which later became part of Nestlé via Rowntree) not long after this; Sunline was able to make the brand a success, and Wonka-branded candy (most of which isn't chocolate-based) is still available in the USA.

First or 2nd season of The Muppet Show. Great show (about 75% of the time) for it's time. I hope my children enjoy it.

JKW

I was disappointed that my kids did not like the first season very much. I may buy a later season and try again with them.

Not too surprising, since it was meant to be an adult show.
As was Sesame Street, and almost all original cartoons.
I find it amusing that people see an animated show and think it's for kids.
Animated does not equal kiddie show...

I think Sesame Street was meant for kids (urban kids, esp.), but The Electric Company was for adults struggling with illiteracy. Could be wrong.
