Another option for this Belt of Potion Quaffing... how about a Helmet that does the same thing! You strap two potions on either side with a leather belt or something and then have some tubing run down into your mouth from each potion.

A Potion Bong! =D
Some more blunt weapons would be great. More options for the cleric beyond Heavy Mace.

Two Handed War Hammer! SWEET!

That is what I was getting at. Maybe a Dwarven Hammer (maybe a throwing hammer) or even a flail.

Awhile back when combo tokens were first being discussed, I remember Douglas suggested some kind of spectacles of true sight.
I forget what they did exactly and I think they were a permanent.

What about something kinda like that that was a consumable.
Say like a Monacle of Magic. The lens was a crystal of some sort. Peering through it gave you the effect of the detect spells; Poison, Magic, Secret doors.
And had say 3-5 charges after that the magic was drained from the crystal and it crumbled.

Another thought along the lines of sight.
Phrygian Sight Salve, would have so many uses 3-5, and could cure Darkness/Blinding. Clearly that would require a monster capable of blinding or casting Darkness on players.

In FF, it was common of a variety of ailments that baddies would toss at the players. So you constantly had to keep a variety of remedies on hand cause you'd never know what you'd get hit with.

If you think about it, new slot items are the most egregious form of powercreep since they offer all benefit and no drawback. I think those should be avoided at best. So no bandoleers, lambraces, masks, earrings, nose rings, spectacles, testicles, wallets or watches.

More heavy duty consumables might be interesting. The balance there is pretty clear. You only get one shot.

How about the old Unearthed Arcana Anything Item. You could have a token that has four or five different items listed on the back, each with an empty square next to it. You have to select which item it is and when you do that you fill in the square. For however long you want it functions as that item. If, however, you decide that you need the item to be something else, you cross out the old item and fill in the new sqaure.

Here are some more ideas (I know it includes a repeat)

(common) Gear: Wash Cloth and Soap
(Picture of a towel and crude soap)

(uncommon) Scroll: Poison cloud (Arcane)
5' cloud, 1 damage per round,-2 all saves
(Picture of a sparkly transparent purple cloud (or a scroll))

Conjures a 5 foot in diameter, magically contained cloud of poison in a fixed location selected by the caster. Any creature entering the cloud (including the caster) will take one point of damage per round and -2 to their saves. The caster can end the cloud at at will.

(uncommon) Scroll: Wall of Peace (Divine)
Creates opaque impenetrable wall for 2 rounds separating the party from opponents
(Picture of a black wall (or a book))

Creates an opaque impenetrable wall that separate the party from any opponents they are engaged in battle with. The wall lasts 2 rounds.

(rare) Item: The conflicted mask
Upon use, random hit/damage of -3,-3 to +3,+3 for rest or room
(Picture of a face half extremely sad, have bloodlust-ily happy)

At any point in a room a player may dawn the conflicted mask, the DM will do something to pick a random value (roll a d6? what do DMs normally have for combat boards?)

The player will then have their 'to hit' and 'damage' augmented as follows:
1: -3, -3
2: -2, -2
3: -1, -1
4: +1, +1
5: +2, +2
6: +3, +3

Once a player dawns the mask the effects are permanent for the room, it can't be dispelled. The effects end at the termination of the room.

(ultra rare) Ranged weapon: Javelin of lightning
-1 to hit. If first throw hits, adds +10 electrical damage
(Picture of a lightning bolt woven in to a spear)

Damage wheel with values: 0, 1, 2, 3
Usable by: Bard, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Barbarian, Druid, Monk

A complex non-aerodynamic spear. Any entity hit by the Javelin's _first_ throw will feel powerful electrical discharge, doing an additional 10 points of energy damage. The Javelin's first throw in a room consumes all of it energy (weather it hits or not), it will then require the rest of the room to recharge (though it can still be used as a -1 spear while its recharging).

I'd say nix the wall for the fact that it'll just slow combat. It's like the changes made to the smokestick. Whenever possible, tokens should speed things as opposed to the opposite since time is already crucial. No reason to give people something that'll just shaft them.

I'm also not keen on the mask if for no other reason that it requires 'bits' and charts. Mostly this is just an extra-clutter/time concern. It's the same reason why while I think wand of wonder might be spiffy, it's just not worth putting together ecspecially when it's certain that all the options won't be printed on the token itself. It'll require dms to have to carry a chart around just to figure out what's going to happen. The deck of many things, on the otherhand, if used _only_ at the start of an adventure in the prep area and whose effects could be marked on playercard, could work out. As long as it's nothing complex, maybe boosting a stat, reducing a stat, more HPs, less HPs, etc....it would flow right in without added problems. It only gets problematic when you want to do nutty stuff like a card that allows you to grow another head.

Sidenote, I don't get the caster end at will part for the stinking cloud. No spell effects are dismissable as it stands, right? If something lasts multiple rounds, you're sorta stuck with it, no? Can't think of a reason you'd want to dismiss most things, but it'd be unwise to blur the line. Pick one and stick with it for clarity.

Javs of lightning in ad&d world only work once. That would seem to be a far more balanced usage than something that will function once per room. range weapon power creep is worse than almost any other if you think about it. The FSB was bad enough, but you never really want to make ranged _better_ than melee. It fubars the whole thing by allowing one massively armored tank and eveyone else getting freebe shots. As for a revised javelin, it'd be like a larger thunderstone, which works for me. Want to give it a slight more kick as a purp? Anyone hit with the lightning effect has to save dc15-20 or is stunned for a turn.

What about a couple missile weapon that enchants the missiles that it fires? For example, a Long Bow of Lightning would do an additional "X" points of electrical damage when it hits. A Crossbow of Flames would do an additional "X" points of fire damage when it hits.

Actually, I think that a scroll that casts a wall of stone or a wall of iron might make for a good Purple token. The idea would be that you could create a wall to trap the monster and thus allowing you to bypass the monster. You wouldn't collect any treasure because you didn't technically defeat the monster. And, since it was an ultra rare token people might be loathe to do it. But, having it around as a kind of "get out of a jam" scroll might make it a good item to have.

Also, how about some more variety of weapons? I'd like to see some "different" weapons such as the Bec De Corbin, or a Katana, or an arquebus, or a trident, or even a halberd. I know that there isn't much point in having two different weapons that do the same damage other than flavor, but flavor can mean a lot to some people (especially if it is something like chocolate-banana!). At the very least, I think that a short polearm, such as the Bec De Corbin or a Bardiche would make a good addtion.

Mock-Dude, the +2 flaming short bow adds 2 points of fire damage as it causes the arrow to burst into flames when it hits the target...

Have you seen the 2007 line up or the token guide perhaps...some good reading indeed!

This year they have been working on introducing new weapons. Such as the scimitar, the illegitimate child sword, hand axe, scythe, different types of arrows, last year was the spear.
So they have been working in variety, but don't want to add them all in one year otherwise what would you save for next years run. ;)

But I think it is good you make that comment as it lets Jeff & Co know that the trend is something wanted by the player base.
Another thing they've done was tweak the damage wheel to make things a little more interesting.

Although Pixie will stick with a +1 Sharpened Toothpick for weapon and my big brother shield. =D
