Yeah; that's why I said I'd get back to suggesting other items (not HoP related).
Black Lotus a Magic Gathering card?

Yep! But I use it in reference to a token that will work in every players hand and be very valuable.
I changed a few of them.

Which ones did you think were too powerfull?

Look at any of your items. Then think to yourself, if you were playing TD, would you clearly want to choose to have that item equipped over any other that fits that slot? If yes, then your item contributes to power creep. It's not enough that there simply are other options. They have to be viable, chosen options.

Common: Consumable
Item: Scribe's Ink

Common: Consumable
Item: Parchment roll

Common: Permanent
Item: Writing Quill

Could be used as a combo ingredient for a Scroll of some sort or creative uses in the dungeon. Depending on rooms these could also be 'ingredients' found in puzzle rooms treasures.

I like those, especially as a set.
I wonder, if you had those in the dungeon, if a DM would let you use a pen and paper to copy a weird glyph on the wall, or scribble down the perplexing verse inscribed on the mummy's tomb.

I had thought of that. And that certain props could be made. Such as parchment sheets with glyphs or something scribbled down that the adventurers 'wrote down'.
I could see recipes found in the dungeon that to get a copy you'd have to use those tokens. And then when the recipe was presented they could get a special combo if they had the recipe and the ingredients.

Hey I kinda really like that idea.

I would go for a single token of "Parchment, Quill, and Ink" (keeps things simpler). Then, have some pre-printed handouts in various rooms on parchment-y paper, and you can tell the DM that you're writing something down, turn in your token (the parchment and ink, at least, would be consumed) and you get the handout to carry with you in the dungeon. Perhaps it has info that would be useful later in the dungeon. Normally, you could just remember the clues, so the tokens are not absolutely necessary, just a nice perk, as tokens should be.
If you're going to do them together it should probably called something like a scribes writing set.

Reason I did them individually though was for creative uses. You may have uses for parchment by itself. Such as creating a funnel, something to burn.

And like wise with the ink.

But these items are very much consumables. Whereas a nibbed writing quill will last you quite a while provided you don't damage the nibs.

Also in the event that they ever get the adventure guilds set up with side missions, I could see using those kinds of items to acquire recipes, glyphs or other information the 'guild' might need. And being commons it should hurt anyone too much to use them.

Here's one:

It could be a Super-Ultra-Stupid-Rare (Pink) token: [glow=black,2,300]The Rod of Divine Might[/glow]. You can use it in the prep room to bypass the dungeon. You get nine draws out of the UR-only treasure box, and max xp. Plus, if you're running in Hardcore mode, you get the special Hardcore item as well. On a roll of 1-10 on d20 Zeus shows up to congratulate you.

If that's too much power creep, then, on a roll of 11-20 on d20, Hades shows up to claim your soul, and you are henceforth banned from True Dungeon.

Whew. Got that out of my system...
