<br />I dunno. It's a fine line to travel really when you try to balance items. That's why I've always advocated more headon conflict. When you have 5 amulets and only 1 neck...it's clear that a decision has to be made and that each precludes the other. When it gets complex, you have to be more careful of balance issues, not to mention it tends to limit future development directions sometimes just so some super-effective combo dosen't crop up based on past incremental steps.<br />

<br /><br />I agree that the slots should be as "pure" as possible - no more Hand of Glory type tokens, otherwise you'll just get to the point where you just pick the best tokens regardless of what slot they are.  I like the tough decisions that have to be made with limited slots - and the decisions will get tougher every year - having to pick which of a bunch of rings to use for your two slots, etc.  Just think when we get up to 30 rings to choose from - which two???<br /><br />I'm definitely open to creating more slots as well, like the Ioun Stones this year.  That has to be handled carefully also - if each slot were to get some sort of AC booster, you could wear them all at once and be pretty much untouchable (OK, we're probably already at that point with the tanks + Druid).

what about some item that lets a wizard get another shot at picking the correct plane of existance or the cleric another shot at picking the correct bead?

Item: The conflicted mask <br /><br />(Picture of a face half extremely sad,  other have bloodlust happy)<br /><br />At any point in a room a player may dawn the conflicted mask.  At that point the DM will do something to pick a random value (roll a d6? what do DMs normally have for combat boards?)<br /><br />The player will then have their 'to hit' and 'damage' augmented as follows:<br />1:  Player is -3 to hit -3 damage for the rest of the room<br />2:   -2,-2<br />3:   -1, -1<br />4:   +1, +1<br />5:   +2, +2<br />6:   +3, +3<br /><br />Once a player dawns the mask the effects are permanent for the room, it can't be dispelled.  The effects end at the termination of the room.<br /><br />(this item wouldn't take a spot unless there were other 'mask' items added)

<br /><br />I think the Cleric(&Druid) already has an item like that... Potion of Owl's Wisdom gives you a retry when picking your focus item.<br /><br />It would be cool to get something like that for the Wiz, tho.

i like the idea of rings that add a +1 to a stat...mostly for those of us with a girdle that puts us at an odd number strength.  though, i think it was mentioned that the +3 was intended as a bonus to barbars, so this idea would go against that...but we rangers dont mind.<br />speaking of rangers, we need our own special item.  im not sure what would be considered too powerful; ie. would an 'offhand +2 longsword' that can be weilded along with another regular +2 longsword (or make them keen scimitars) be too powerful?  it would be a nice bonus for rangers, and still be a regular version to anyone else that has one (they just use thier other hand, if you want to be technical).<br />oh, or how about bracers of charge attack (or something), kinda like the assassin in diablo 2; every 2nd successful attack does a little extra damage (5, maybe?  thats probably too much if people are consistent sliders, but you dont want it to be too little that it isnt worth giving up the +1AC).  every class could use them and only get the bonus every other combat round (if they hit every time), while the ranger and monk could get the bonus every round (if they are amazing sliders).<br />im sure ill think of others later...perhaps even for other classes as well ;)<br /><br />...oh, oh, just remembered, i want them to make a deck of many things.  you would decide how many to draw during the set-up time at the beginning and get that many random effects.  best thing is, TD can change the deck each year if they feel like it (i would suggest no 'death' card since this is before even entering the dungeon...but a 'reduce to 1HP' is a great bad card).

It would be cool to get something like that for the Wiz, tho.

As a general concept, what about a token that took up two slots... like powerful armor that also took up your Cloak slot, or "dual" ring that took up both ring slots?  Or Arm Guards that took up Gauntlet and Bracer slots?  Might make for some interesting tokens and decisions.  =)

If we learned anything from the MAGE CLOAK...anything that takes up two slots needs to be AT LEAST as good as what is out there today.<br /><br />

I like the Wizard's Hat of Remembrance (get second try at planes of existence).  How about this:<br /><br />Wand of Wonder:<br />Has 5 charges, but can act as any scroll, potion, or wand the wizard possesses.  For example, if you have a Chain Lightning scroll, you can burn a charge on the Wand of Wonder instead of burning the scroll.<br />
