Well, of course it's a business decision for Jeff & Lori & Company, but I don't think you're out that much up-front cost if you buy 10-20 or so (or whatever the minumum order is) of each shirt you're selling, and they can make a profit when they sell the shirts - plus the shirts act as advertisement for True Dungeon (and tokens if you make them a token related shirt, like the 2007 PURP set or a class name with some class appropriate tokens). If the shirts helped encourage token sales that would offset any cost right there. It shouldn't cost anything to add the shirts to the webpage for sale, and it wouldn't take much room to store them. I'd have to think there are a lot of token collectors that would happily buy a token related True Dungeon shirt - heck, Jeff could even run a poll on the forums to judge interest.

They had really cool True Dungeon shirts their first year, and those seem to have sold out pretty quickly. Two of my friends got one, and I'm wishing I'd gotten one too. (Hey Lori, if there are any of those shirts left, add one to my order =))

Mike

It'd be a very poor buisness decision. At that quantity, they'd be paying pretty much retail for the shirts. There would be almost no useful profit margin, not to mention that the econoics of scale would be out the door. Most fundamental of all though is the assertion that a purchase of a t-shirt would actually supplement token sales rather than detract from it. I pretty much think it would be the reverse if anything. Most people have a nebulous yet set amount about they're willing to pay for any event and goods. I'm sure a lot of us set limits or budgets for what we can spend in the dealer hall for instance. The purchase of a TD shirt would then just take away from funds avalaible to be spent on tokens. Since the profit margin on these t-shirts would be so minimal, it would surely be better to be able to sell people tokens instead. Not to mention that you can wear a shirt anywhere. A bag of tokens only has one real effective use. It thus ties a person more closely to the event.

Well, then if they bought just one or two designs of the shirt and bought 50 or 100 of each, that might get their quantity up to where they'd get a substantial discount. It would probably be like buying a car for many of us - sure, throw that $19.99 T-Shirt on top of the $1000 Token order. I think most people buying tokens could find another $19.99 for a T-Shirt if they wanted it. And like I said, they already sold T-Shirts the first year, and they seemed to go pretty fast. I do think that if people are walking around with T-Shirts with cool photos of token sets on the back, that could prompt other people to buy more tokens. But - I respect your different opinion.

Well seeing someone walking around in a cool shirt makes you take notice of what it portrays and even if you dont ask the person wearing it you might think..."Hmm I heard of that maybe I should look into it."

Exactly! That's why many companies give away T-Shirts for free at GENCON (you can always count on getting at least a couple). People wearing T-Shirts with their product displayed (like the True Dungeon Logo and some token assortment on the back with the web address) around is free advertising for the companies.

Lots of people stare when a group of 2-3 folks walk the con in TD shirts...and when groups of 6 gather, people do stop and say how much they loved the adventure...some even ask for clues or help as they have a run later that day...

SHIRTS RULE!

While what Henwy said is true, that spending money on shirts does decrease money for other things, the benefit of shirts is advertised for NEW players, more people to buy tokens, and more volunteers.

I like it. =)

*bump*

did we ever get a consensus of what shirt would work?

i like the idea of the "tokenholic anonymous 2007" over left breast with "what's your addiction" centered on front. the back would be just text "got purp?"

not too complicated and gary's garage guy can probably whip them out fairly quickly. does anyone object?
