TOPIC: what makes one a "tokenholic"?

Re: what makes one a "tokenholic"? 16 years 11 months ago #193

I kind of like having the year on it, so people can look back in a few years to see how long they've been a member. Plus, from a collecting point of view, you can get a shirt each year if they have the years on it (must have the complete set! - hopefully the design would change more than the year though). Not a big deal though, either way.

I'm looking forward to when Jeff decides to make official True Dungeon shirts - I want one with the complete token sets (like the 2003 Rare set) on the back! It would be easy for him to have them posted for sale on the webstore, and at GENCON. I'd pay a premium for that =D

From what Jeff suggested, I played around with a mockup...

Well only problem I have is some of us have been Tokenholics since TD started...what makes 2007 the year it started? More like we are just slapping a date on a shirt to set some of us apart from others...and that is not part of what being in TA is about...we are one happy group, anxious to grow every year to help TD stay around to feed us our addiction.

I can live with the year or live without it...

As far as getting our names on the shirts...maybe that can be a personal touch each person can do on their own??

"Token Set" shirts would sell Jeff - and they would make COOL prizes for TD games etc.

Dave, I like what you came up with. They would be awesome. I like the idea that they could also be prizes - maybe the overall True Arena champ, riddle champ, etc., so you are only giving out a few, and the rest people can buy on their own.

I know we are one big happy family, gary, but I would think it would be mostly tokenholics who would want to buy a token t-shirt.

Brian

We agree - but I am saying why would we want to make noobies feel more noobie by saying they can't get a 2007 shirt if they were not part of the craze in 2007... At the end of the day - no matter if you started with TD or joined in 2008 - we are all Token crazed.

That is the point I think you missed - I may be wrong, but I feel it is more FUN to just make a generic shirt. Changing the format every year or every couple is hitting the same nerve, but at we can cross that bridge when we get to it.
Dave - I Like that shirt. I'd love to see an actual wooden token on the back, but I know that just wouldn't look right on that color shirt.
I see what Gary is saying. We can probably do without the "charter member 2007" terminology.

I also have wanted a shirt with shot of the entire 2007 Purple line-up on the back. I'd buy one. I would have made one through cafepress (or somewhere) if there weren't copyright issues.

I was attempting to complete a design and then go find the best place to produce it. Thanks, Dave, for hooking us up with other sources.

I'd say we have consensus on several variants. Now, we just need to produce images of each and go forth.

Thank you to Dave and Jeff for thowing in their ideas, skills, and time.

Like I said - I like the year on it, regardless of whether it says "charter member" or not, but it's cool either way. Maybe just the "2007" date underneath Tokenholics Anonymous.

One comment of personal taste - I think the token symbols would look better without the ".com" at the end. I don't think the ".com" adds anything since clearly the token symbols can't be used as a web address, and it looks quite elegant without the ".com", just the string of symbols.

By the way - if we aren't allowed to use any of the token artwork, the True Dungeon name, etc. - are we sure we're allowed to put the token year symbols on the shirts? I imagine this was covered earlier, but I didn't remember seeing it.

You guys can go with what ever you would like as far as images go, if you go with some place like Silkworm you could do the full color wooden token, however the other places I looked at seemed more interested in single color images (e.g. raytrace) only. Which is why I went with the mock up as I did.

I played around with Zazzles creator utility and you can pretty much do exactly what I did in the mock up, you may have to settle on a slightly different font though. I was able to make a pretty good mock up there before the utility crashed and lost my design.

Let me know what you want to do and I will help in any way I can.

Dave
