TOPIC: what makes one a "tokenholic"?

Re: what makes one a "tokenholic"? 16 years 11 months ago #181

Gary, What was the service and price from the garage guy?

I've read up more on silk screening and normally it seems to be price per color and can't normally do full color.

BTW I have a new version of the order page I'm working on (At one point that was the idea for the back of the shirt). With luck I'll post it later tonight.

One color, no graphics.

If front of shirt has screen only - roughly 12.50 a shirt any size up to XXXL.

If front and back of shirt - roughly $15 a shirt...

Might be able to get shirts in two different colors...but not a promise.

White and workout grey would be most likely. OR even Grey and Red...or white and red....

The token idea of GOT PURP is cool - if we can get it to really look like a wooden token of old. So if that works out - no worries I can tell the garage guy no deal.

If we are looking for personalized shirts - he might have a prob with that additional work, but I have not asked him.

If it is just going to be straight up fixed text on front and back - that is his game and helps cover his cost for making the screens...

There's no way the garage guy could do it with the color schemes we're talking about.

My only regret is that while cafe press is easy, their shirt/print quality is often crap. Even if it's priced at the lowest allowable, we'll be paying $20 per shirt or so with shipping. If you want larger sizes than XL or colors other than white, it'll go up to as high as $25 or so.

Right...at least not yet...he has only been in business for 2 months or so...and it is a part-time hobby.

Gary - I'm not sure what to say about the "garage guy."
Personally, I want something with a token on it. I think our addiction deserves a picture in addition to the text.
If, however, we have really great logo, I'd consider buying a better quality shirt (we hope) at a lower price from "garage guy."

Henwy - Thank you for the notes about CafePress. I've never used them or purchased from them before. I haven't even shopped around. Just trying to facilitate a design.

We're never going to get unanimity. It becomes delusional after a while to strive toward it. At some point, someone's going to have to make the 'best fit' decision and take some initiative and just let the pieces fall where they may.

I was at that point weeks ago...That's when I think I went quiet anyway.

I'll be happy to get something made if all other things poop out.

this might help out.

if it's a charter member run,

1. how many do we need?--- would we pay a little extra for one of a kind.

2. do we want to make shirts for every year or just TA shirts (not charter member) for all years after 2007?

What about other vendors than Cafepress?

There is GeekLabel http://www.geeklabel.com/custom.php However, I think they prefer to do solid blocks of text and single color graphics. They also have a booth at GenCon

It may cost a bit more but there is also Silkworm http://www.silkwormink.com/index.php I am pretty sure that is where the TD shirts are made. Mike Bergman is a veteren TD DM.

Another thought would be to hit up one of the mall embroidery places, you would have to go simpler on some of the text, but they might look really nice.

Just some thoughts....

The charter member is starting to sound a bit to clicky to me...and it may discourage new folks from feeling as if they truely are part of the gang.

If it is not too opposed...I say we toss the Charter Memeber idea - or just make every shirt Charter Members...

good thinking gary. if we put the year on it then charter member really isn't needed. then we just add the year to each new batch of shirts? i like that. i hope i am following your train of thought.

Well had not thought about the year...but I would vote to remove it.

Thought is to just make a shirt like the TD staff shirt...something that looks new every year we see it...something that folks take pride in getting for the first time year after year after year...
