TOPIC: what makes one a "tokenholic"?

Re: what makes one a "tokenholic"? 16 years 11 months ago #157

You know, there's no reason the saying has to be on the token. You could have the token just say "Tokenholics Anonymous" with or without the year symbols, and the saying "Got PURP?" or whatever, could be written below the token.

Although given the restrictions, we probably can't use the year symbols anyway, can we?

You could get some wooden nickels to go with the shirt, that just say Tokenholics Anonymous 2007 or something.

Token mockup for shirt 16 years 11 months ago #158

Here is a mock up of what I offered earlier. I did this quickly, if there was interest I could build a cleaner larger image (Or switch it to a woodie token)
I tried curving the text (not easy in Photoshop) and the resolution would not be good enough if you want to blow it up.
I would look OK on a button though.

Other changes, such as sizing, text placement, and text itself are easy to make. What ever you guys come up with.

Okay.

Thoughts?

Front:
"Charter Member 2007
Tokenholics Anonymous"

Can have the charter member text slightly larger if we want.
Can have the text on the right side of the shirt (right side of the person wearing it).

Back:
"All your token are belong to us"
Picture: Got Purp?
(or two pictures, the Got Purp and "what's your addiction?")

Personally, the "All your token are belong to us" text drives me nuts. I hate it. I have never heard of it until now and it makes the gramatically correct part of me cringe. However, if the majority of Tokenholics know and love that phrase, then so be it. (tightens straightjacket)

Any other thoughts?

Mike - if you want to run with the cursed heart idea for another T-shirt, go for it. While it's a neat idea/theme, I don't care for it as much. (sorry!) No one ever said we couldn't do more than one shirt. I'm sure cafepress won't mind having three + TD shirts for everyone to choose from.

JKW

Given your the only person who said anything on the cursed heart idea (and that was to note you didn't care for it (which I'm cool with)) I now consider the idea dead. Yesterday I saw other ideas being mocked-up so for kicks I thought I would mock mine up too.

I'm in for whatever shirt the group agrees on, no hard feelings on my part. :)

John, I must say I'm surprised you have never heard of the All your base bit.
But I can understand how its can be annoying. Like I do not get purposefully misspelling the as teh. I mean coming on, I understand somethings are abbreviations, but if it takes the same keystrokes, just spell it right to begin with!!! Okay, I'm going to shut up now. Teehee.

Mike, if you want to try a different twist on it, go for it.

What I like most is your mention about "compels posessor to randomly order smackattacks of tokens." That is cool.
I suppose I can see it being a Cursed item.
I can understand the Heart of token collector...however, I don't consider myself a collector. I just like the tokens.

Heart of a Tokenholic perhaps?

I like the mention fo Smackattacks. I'm not a great idea person. Keep adding to it (or just sayings for T-shirts) to see what else we can come up with.

Perhaps we can make a printable list of the smackattack values (in numbers of tokens instead of dollars spent).
We can have a saying something like:

"How to determine when you qualify as a tokenholic?"
"How many tokens does it take to satisfy a tokenholic?"

Have the list of values Smack listed earlier with a big checkmark next the the Smackattack value.

Something to that effect. I like it. Anyone else? How can we make the question better?
"How many tokens does a tokenholic order?"

"What quantity of tokens is enough?"

"How big is your pile?" (er, have "tokenholics annonymous" above that question and list)

Here we go...from another thread (and I modified it to show tokens instead of $$)

250.........baby-smakload
500.........mini-smakload
1,000.........smakload
5,000.........monster smakload
10,000........BIG SMAK-ATTACK

But a selection circle in front of each and a (purple) checkmark for the Big Smak-Attack.
